Liverpool to appoint new physio Christopher Rohrbeck from Mainz

LIVERPOOL -- Mainz have confirmed head physiotherapist Christopher Rohrbeck will be leaving to join Liverpool.

Rohrbeck, 38, will depart the Bundesliga club at the end of the season after 14 years of service to form part of the medical department at Liverpool.

In a press release, Mainz's sporting director Rouven Schroder said: "Christopher Rohrbeck has worked for us in a reliable fashion on a high level for many years and was now presented with a chance to switch jobs.

"Even though for us this means losing one of our long-time employees, we wanted to grant Christopher and his family their wish to take on a fresh challenge in Liverpool.

"We thank him for his services and wish him and his family all the best for their future."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp played the majority of his playing career at Mainz and took charge of the German club in his first job in management between 2001-2008.

Last summer, Klopp recruited Andreas Kornmayer and Mona Nemmer from Bayern Munich as head of fitness and conditioning and head of Nutrition respectively, with both appointments proving to be popular among players.
