Marcelo Bielsa has said he will not resign as coach of struggling Lille.
Bielsa, appointed on a two-year deal in the summer, has seen his side pick up only five points from six games, leaving them a point above the Ligue 1 relegation zone.
The 62-year-old's attacking philosophy had been seen as an ideal fit by new owner Gerard Lopez.
Bielsa resigned his post at Marseille after one game last season and quit Lazio after just two days in summer 2016.
But asked at a news conference whether he could now leave Lille, he said: "You ask me how, after resigning at OM [Marseille], I can say I'm not going to give up.
"I won't leave here even if I have to battle to stay up all season. I say that to commit myself to putting up with everything I have to put up with.
"I know the suffering we feel when we lose. I fought for the Argentine national team during the side's worst period. I'm a specialist at taking on difficult situations."
Lopez gave Bielsa free rein to overhaul a squad that Franck Passi, his former assistant coach at Marseille, had guided away from the drop zone last season.
Rio Mavuba, Vincent Enyeama and Marko Basa were among the players to leave, while young players such as Thiago Maia, a €14 million capture from Santos, were brought in.
So far, the changes have not paid off, but Bielsa said: "I won't resign -- not for any reason. The only possibility that I stop working here is that those in authority decide to take my job away from me. And that's not only up to me.
"There's absolutely no possibility that I give up my post. Saying that is an action tinged with carelessness, but I think it.
"My conviction is so strong in terms of the project that I think there is only one way of interrupting the project, regardless of the circumstances.
"And as that is only down to me, I'm going to continue working with even more effort than I already put in every day."
