George Elokobi secures Leyton Orient move

Leyton Orient have completed the signing of Cameroonian defender George Elokobi, who signs for the London club from Colchester United.

The 31-year-old, who made 58 Premier League appearances over three season with Wolverhampton Wanderers, joins the National League side on a two-year deal.

"Really pleased to sign for Leyton Orient," the defender wrote on his @georgeelokobi Twitter handle. "I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead."

Elokobi was released by League Two outfit Colchester at the season's end, but joins the O's alongside forward Macauley Bonne, who has represented Zimbabwe at U-23 level.

Powerful Cameroon-born Elokobi moved to England when he was 16 before signing for Dulwich Hamlet and eventually moving onto Colchester United in 2004.

He moved to Wolves in January 2008, but played a peripheral role in their promotion-winning campaign of 2008-09 after suffering a serious knee ligament injury in August.

Elokoki eventually fell out of the first-team picture with the Old Gold, and moved onto Oldham Athletic in 2014 after loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Bristol City.

Regularly used as a left-back earlier in his career, Elokobi has matured into a capable lower-league centre-back during the last few years, and expect him to fulfil this brief at Brisbane Road.
