Chiefs star involved in car accident

Kaizer Chiefs have received a scare after midfielder Lebo Manyama was involved in a car accident on Tuesday, but has been discharged from hospital with minor injuries.

Chiefs have confirmed the incident and while they confirm he was treated for injuries to his knee and elbow, have not stated when he will return to training.

"Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Lebogang Manyama was involved in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon. The player was driving home from training when the incident took place," Chiefs said in a statement on their official website.

"He was rushed to hospital for examinations and x-rays. Doctors treated him for minor injuries to his knee and elbow and he has since been discharged.

"Manyama will be assessed further by the doctors to determine the extent of the injuries and advise when he will be fit to train again."

It is a blow for Manyama, who was regaining form in recent weeks after a long spell on the sidelines following his failed move to Turkish side Konyaspor.

He will in all likelihood miss Sunday's Telkom Knockout Last 16 clash at home to Black Leopards, but will hope to be fit for the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on October 27.
