The protracted transfer saga involving Madagascar international Andriamirado Andrianarimanana's arrival at Kaizer Chiefs appears to be at an end after he finally jetted into South Africa over the weekend. The 27-year-old, known more simply as 'Dax', had been the subject of a tug-of-war between the Chiefs and his Madagascan club, Fosa Juniors, who both claimed to have a valid contract with the player. Fosa Juniors even confiscated the player's passport to stop him concluding the transfer, but he travelled after receiving new documentation and will undergo a medical and conclude the formalities of his move to the South African Premier League. "We have been working hard to ensure that the player comes to South Africa," Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung was quoted as saying on the club website. "We now have to work on finalising all his paperwork and medicals, but what's important for us and the supporters is that he is here." The Chiefs unveiled Dax in June having signed a pre-contract with the player, only for Fosa Juniors to claim he was a professional with them despite the fact that the Madagascan league is amateur. Fosa Juniors demanded a reported $US200,000 (R2.7 million) in compensation for the player, which Chiefs refused to pay, saying their contract was the only valid paperwork. The South Africans threatened to take the matter to FIFA, saying the player should be banned for two years, as per FIFA regulations, if he had indeed signed a contract with them after having an existing deal with Fosa Juniors. Dax was named Player of the Tournament at the 2018 COSAFA Cup in South Africa, and signed his contract with Chiefs during the tournament in Polokwane.
