SPAL's Marco Borriello nets for joint record 12th Serie A club

Marco Borriello equalled a Serie A record at the weekend by scoring for the 12th different club in SPAL's 3-2 win over Udinese.

Borriello, 35, drew level with Nicola Amoruso with a goal which was the Ferrara-based club's first in Serie A in almost 50 years.

His first goal in Italy's top flight came for Empoli in 2003. Since then, he has scored for Reggina, Sampdoria, Treviso, AC Milan, Genoa, Roma, Juventus, Carpi, Atalanta and Cagliari, but he hopes his latest strike will not be the last of his career.

"I've found an atmosphere here which has given me belief and courage," he told Sky Sport Italia. "The team is good enough to stay up and if we are to succeed, I'm going to have to go into double figures."

Borriello moved to SPAL only days before the start of the season after walking out on Cagliari, for whom he scored 16 times last term.

His 96th Serie A goal was SPAL's first since promotion and their first in Italy's top flight in 49 years.
