Hannover player Uffe Bech appeals against fine for biting Schalke fan

Uffe Bech has appealed against a €50,000 penalty order for biting a Schalke supporter when he was with Hannover in August.

Bech, 25, was given the penalty order by Hannover district court last month after the incident, which happened in the VIP section of the Niedersachsenstadion.

He was charged with and fined for actual bodily harm but has appealed, saying he acted in self-defence.

"The player was sitting down when he was attacked from behind by a half-drunk Schalke fan," Dr. Joachim Rain, Bech's lawyer, told Bild.

"That man put a stranglehold on Bech's neck."

The case will be heard at Hannover district court on April 17.

Bech, who joined Hannover from Nordsjaelland in 2015, is currently playing for Greuther Furth on loan until the end of the season.
