The Black Stars recovered from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Benin in a warm up game and their first international assignment under new boss Kwesi Appiah.

Benin scored first through striker Ogoulola Ibrahim who took advantage of poor judgement from Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori to drive home the opener.

They held till the end of the first half when Hearts of Oak's Patrick Razak went down in the box under a challenge before defender Aawal Mohammed converted calmly.

The game which was marred by a poor pitch was disrupted at the start of the second half when both sides made a plethora of changes. However, it all went downhill for Benin when right back Osseni Ayide was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Ghana could not take advantage of the penalty awarded to them with nine minutes remaining, after Joseph Esso was brought down in the box - Awal Mohammed missed from the spot.

The game is the first of at least two friendly matches lined up for the Black Stars ahead of their two-leg 2018 CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso in August this year.
