Premier League weekend team news: Injuries and suspensions update

FRIDAY'S GAME

WEST HAM UNITED vs. LEICESTER CITY

WEST HAM: Andre Ayew and Marko Arnautovic have been passed fit for West Ham's home game with Leicester on Friday night. Ayew has recovered from the illness which sidelined him at Watford last weekend and Arnautovic is available after going off with a thumb injury. But Javier Hernandez is still out with a hamstring problem, and although James Collins and Michail Antonio are back in training they are short of match fitness.

Provisional squad: Hart, Adrian, Reid, Zabaleta, Kouyate, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Rice, Fernandes, Noble, Obiang, Lanzini, Ayew, Masuaku, Arnautovic, Carroll, Sakho, Martinez.

LEICESTER: Leicester boss Claude Puel has no fresh injury worries for their trip to West Ham on Friday but continues to be without Robert Huth. The defender is yet to play this season as he continues to battle a knee injury while Matty James is also sidelined with an Achilles problem. Puel suggested he is unlikely to rotate his squad following last weekend's defeat to Manchester City as he looks ahead to making changes during the Christmas period instead.

Provisional squad: Schmeichel, Jakupovic, Hamer, Simpson, Fuchs, Morgan, Chilwell, Maguire, Dragovic, Benalouane, Iborra, Ndidi, Amartey, Gray, Albrighton, Mahrez, Musa, Vardy, Ulloa, Slimani, Okazaki, Iheanacho.

SATURDAY'S GAMES

CRYSTAL PALACE vs. STOKE CITY

CRYSTAL PALACE: Christian Benteke is pushing to start for Crystal Palace at home to Stoke after returning as a substitute in the 2-2 draw with Everton. The striker's availability increases competition for places in the final third, where manager Roy Hodgson has so far persisted with the in-form Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha. Palace's only absentees are Chung-yong Lee, because of an ankle knock, and Connor Wickham, who is still far from a return after injuring the anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee.

Provisional squad: Speroni, Hennessey, Ward, Fosu-Mensah, Dann, Sakho, Tomkins, Riedewald, Delaney, Schlupp, Van Aanholt, Souare, Kelly, Townsend, Lofus-Cheek, Milivojevic, Puncheon, Cabaye, McArthur, Mutch, Ladapo, Sako, Kaikai, Zaha, Benteke.

STOKE: Stoke may rest Xherdan Shaqiri for the trip to bottom club Crystal Palace. Shaqiri came off with a tight hamstring at Brighton and boss Mark Hughes is tempted to give him a chance to fully recover. Geoff Cameron (concussion) and Jack Butland (finger) have not yet resumed training.

Provisional squad: Grant, Haugaard, Zouma, Wimmer, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Johnson, Pieters, Ngoy, Edwards, Diouf, Fletcher, Allen, Adam, Afellay, Jese, Shaqiri, Choupo-Moting, Sobhi, Berahino, Crouch.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs. BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION

MAN UNITED: Manchester United will again be without Eric Bailly and Phil Jones as Brighton arrive in Saturday's Premier League encounter. Marcos Rojo played the entirety of the midweek Champions League trip to Basel after 216 days out following a serious knee injury and the defender's match fitness will be assessed ahead of Saturday. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not yet ready to start, while captain Michael Carrick remains sidelined. Ashley Young, Juan Mata and Antonio Valencia did not travel to Wednesday's Champions League clash at Basel.

Provisional squad: De Gea, Romero, Pereira, Valencia, Young, Tuanzebe, Darmian, Lindelof, Rojo, Smalling, Shaw, Blind, Pogba, McTominay, Matic, Herrera, Fellaini, Lingard, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Ibrahimovic, Lukaku, Martial.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION: Brighton manager Chris Hughton reported no fresh injury problems ahead of the Premier League match at Manchester United. Israel midfielder Beram Kayal, who suffered a broken leg in the final pre-season match against Atletico Madrid, is set to travel with the squad. Midfielder Steve Sidwell, though, continues his recovery from a back problem.

Provisional squad: Ryan, Duffy, Bong, Dunk, Bruno, Knockaert, Stephens, Izquierdo, Propper, Murray, Gross, Krul, Schelotto, March, Brown, Goldson, Suttner, Hemed, Kayal.

NEWCASTLE UNITED vs. WATFORD

NEWCASTLE: Midfielder Mikel Merino will return to the Newcastle squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Watford. The Spaniard has missed the last three games with a back injury, and his availability provides manager Rafael Benitez with a timely boost as Isaac Hayden serves a one-match ban after collecting his fifth booking of the season at Manchester United last weekend. Full-back Paul Dummett is closing in on a return from his long-standing hamstring injury, although the game will come too soon for him, while central defender Jamaal Lascelles (foot) and winger Christian Atsu (groin) are still out.

Provisional squad: Elliot, Darlow, Yedlin, Manquillo, Mbemba, Gamez, Haidara, Clark, Lejeune, Merino, Shelvey, Saivet, Ritchie, Murphy, Aarons, Diame, Perez, Joselu, Gayle, Mitrovic.

WATFORD: Watford boss Marco Silva has no fresh selection problems but remains without five players ahead of Saturday's Premier League trip to Newcastle. Hornets captain Troy Deeney serves the final game of a three-match suspension, while defenders Craig Cathcart (knee) and Younes Kaboul (hamstring), midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah (knee) and forward Isaac Success (knee) are still injured. Spanish full-back Kiko Femenia is available to play after being forced off with cramp against West Ham on Sunday.

Provisional squad: Gomes, Karnezis, Bachmann, Femenia, Britos, Mariappa, Kabasele, Wague, Zeegelaar, Holebas, Janmaat, Prodl, Cleverley, Hughes, Doucoure, Capoue, Watson, Carrillo, Pereyra, Richarlison, Gray, Okaka, Sinclair.

SWANSEA CITY vs. BOURNEMOUTH

SWANSEA: England striker Tammy Abraham is a major doubt for Swansea's Premier League game against Bournemouth at the Liberty Stadium. Abraham was forced off at Burnley last weekend with a back problem and Swansea must wait to see how he responds to treatment. Wilfried Bony stands by to make his first start since the end of September, while player-coach Leon Britton has a niggling groin injury.

Provisional squad: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson, Clucas, Ki, Dyer, Fer, Ayew, Abraham, Sanches, Bony, Nordfeldt, Rangel, Van der Hoorn, Mesa, Britton, Carroll, Narsingh, Fulton, Routledge, McBurnie.

BOURNEMOUTH: Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe will miss the Premier League trip to Swansea because of a calf problem. Captain Simon Francis is suspended after his red card in last week's 4-0 win over Huddersfield, while midfielder Junior Stanislas remains sidelined by a groin injury. Defenders Brad Smith (hip) and Tyrone Mings (back) continue their rehabilitation.

Provisional Squad: Begovic, Daniels, A Smith, Ake, S Cook, Surman, M Pugh, Arter, Ibe, King, Wilson, Boruc, L Cook, Jordan, Gosling, Fraser, Mousset, Afobe.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs. WEST BROMWICH ALBION

TOTTENHAM: Danny Rose is likely to drop out of the starting line-up for Tottenham's game at home to West Brom on Saturday. Rose played 90 minutes against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday but Ben Davies is expected to come back in, while Kieran Trippier could also replace Serge Aurier on the right. Toby Alderweireld (hamstring) and Victor Wanyama (knee) are out. Erik Lamela is still regaining match sharpness.

Provisional squad: Lloris, Vorm, Gazzaniga, Rose, Davies, Walker-Peters, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Dier, Foyth, Trippier, Aurier, Winks, Sissoko, Dembele, Alli, Lamela, Eriksen, Son, Llorente, Kane.

WEST BROM: West Brom caretaker manager Gary Megson reported no fresh injury problems ahead of the Premier League match against Tottenham at Wembley. Belgium international Nacer Chadli remains sidelined by a hip injury. Scotland midfielder James Morrison is recovering from surgery on his Achilles.

Provisional Squad: Foster, Hegazi, McAuley, Evans, Livermore, Phillips, Krychowiak, Barry, Gibbs, Rondon, Rodriguez, Myhill, Burke, Yacob, McClean, Brunt, Nyom, Robson-Kanu.

LIVERPOOL vs. CHELSEA

LIVERPOOL: Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is a doubt for Saturday's Premier League clash with Chelsea at Anfield due to a muscle problem. Adam Lallana, who is yet to play a competitive match this season, has been stepping up his recovery from a thigh injury and could be involved this time. Joel Matip (knock) may make his return to action after missing the last two games.

Provisional squad: Karius, Mignolet, Lovren, Gomez, Klavan, Moreno, Robertson, Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Wijnaldum, Milner, Coutinho, Henderson, Grujic, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Can, Firmino, Salah, Sturridge, Mane, Ings, Solanke.

CHELSEA: Wing-back Victor Moses is available following a six-week absence when Chelsea play at Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday. Moses has been out with a hamstring injury since the October 14 loss at Crystal Palace and is expected to begin as a substitute against another of his former clubs, having spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Anfield. Alvaro Morata and Andreas Christensen are expected to return in place of Willian and David Luiz as boss Antonio Conte rotates his options, with striker Michy Batshuayi (ankle), forward Charly Musonda (knee) and the left-sided Kenedy (undisclosed) out.

Provisional squad: Courtois, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Fabregas, Drinkwater, Kante, Morata, Hazard, Pedro, Bakayoko, Moses, Zappacosta, Willian, Cahill, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Clarke-Salter, Sterling, Eduardo.

SUNDAY'S GAMES

BURNLEY vs. ARSENAL

BURNLEY: Chris Wood is set to return to the Burnley starting line-up for their Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday. Wood missed last week's 2-0 win over Swansea following his late arrival back from World Cup play-off duty with New Zealand, but is expected to replace Ashley Barnes in the starting line-up. Jon Walters and Dean Marney are making steady progress with knee injuries but are not ready to figure, while goalkeeper Tom Heaton is still out after his shoulder operation.

Provisional squad: Pope, Lindegaard, Lowton, Long, Mee, Taylor, Ward, Tarkowski, Bardsley, Defour, Brady, Ulvestad, Hendrick, Cork, Westwood, Arfield, Gudmunsson, Vokes, Barnes, Wood.

ARSENAL: Arsenal will recall a host of first-team regulars for Sunday's Premier League trip to face Burnley. Arsene Wenger made 11 changes for Thursday's Europa League defeat at Cologne but his side at Turf Moor will likely resemble that which beat Tottenham in the north London derby last weekend. Santi Cazorla (ankle) is the only absentee for the Gunners with Danny Welbeck in contention despite coming off at half-time in Germany having recovered from a recent groin problem.

Provisional squad: Cech, Ospina, Mertesacker, Holding, Koscielny, Mustafi, Chambers, Monreal, Debuchy, Bellerin, Nelson, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Ramsey, Wilshere, Xhaka, Elneny, Ozil, Walcott, Sanchez, Iwobi, Welbeck, Lacazette, Giroud.

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN vs. MANCHESTER CITY

HUDDERSFIELD: Christopher Schindler returns from suspension as Huddersfield host runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday. The centre-back was absent at Bournemouth last weekend through a one-match ban, while Jonathan Hogg is back having missed that match due to the birth of his son. Kasey Palmer (hamstring) is back in full training, but Philip Billing (ankle), Michael Hefele (Achilles) and Jon Gorenc Stankovic (knee) remain out.

Provisional squad: Lossl, Green, Coleman, Malone, Cranie, Schindler, Jorgensen, Hadergjonaj, Smith, Lowe, Williams, Hogg, Mooy, Van La Parra, Ince, Kachunga, Sabiri, Quaner, Depoitre, Mounie

MAN CITY: Manchester City are set to welcome back captain Vincent Kompany and winger Leroy Sane for Sunday's Premier League trip to Huddersfield. The pair were both rested for the midweek Champions League clash against Feyenoord while left-back Fabian Delph, playmaker David Silva and midfielder Fernandinho could also return after being unused substitutes. Defenders John Stones (hamstring) and Benjamin Mendy (knee) are the only players out through injury.

Provisional squad: Ederson, Bravo, Walker, Danilo, Otamendi, Kompany, Mangala, Delph, Toure, Gundogan, Fernandinho, Sterling, Sane, D Silva, B Silva, De Bruyne, Aguero, Jesus.

SOUTHAMPTON vs. EVERTON

SOUTHAMPTON: Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino faces a potential problem in central midfield unless Mario Lemina is passed fit to start against Everton on Sunday. The 24-year-old has been struggling with an ankle injury and will be assessed before Pellegrino picks his team. Fellow central midfielder Oriol Romeu is suspended, while Matt Targett is absent with a leg injury.

Provisional squad: Forster, McCarthy, Taylor, Cedric, Hoedt, Stephens, Yoshida, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Gardos, Pied, McQueen, Lemina, Hojbjerg, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Davis, Boufal, Tadic, Redmond, Rose, Austin, Gabbiadini.

EVERTON: Everton striker Oumar Niasse will become the first Premier League player to serve a suspension for diving when he sits out Sunday's trip to Southampton. Niasse was found guilty of deceiving the referee to win a penalty against Crystal Palace and has been hit with a two-game ban. Caretaker manager David Unsworth will make sweeping changes to the side humbled 5-1 by Atalanta on Thursday. Tom Davies is suspended and there are questions over Phil Jagielka (groin) and Morgan Schneiderlin (toe).

Provisional squad: Pickford, Robles, Williams, Keane, Baines, Martina, Jagielka, Kenny, Gueye, Baningime, Besic, Schneiderlin, Mirallas, Lennon, Lookman, Vlasic, Sigurdsson, Klaassen, Rooney, Calvert-Lewin, Sandro.
