The Belgian Football Association have said Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini will only be sidelined "for a couple of weeks" after he limped out of Saturday's World Cup qualifying win against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Fellaini lasted just 30 minutes of the 4-3 victory before limping off with a knee injury. With Belgium leading 1-0, Fellaini pulled up and, after receiving attention from Belgium's medical team, was replaced by Leander Dendoncker. Martinez suggested the injury was serious after the game, saying: "We are all worried about Fellaini. We fear that there's ligament damage." However, on Sunday the Belgian FA announced via their official Twitter account that the injury was not as bad as first expected. Fellaini will now miss Belgium's game against Cyprus on Tuesday. The 29-year-old had been suffering from an Achilles problem earlier this week but was named in the starting XI on Saturday afternoon, despite Belgium having already sealed progress to the World Cup. The injury does mean Fellaini will miss United's Premier League trip to rivals Liverpool on Saturday. The news will come as a blow to Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho, with Fellaini becoming a key figure in recent weeks. Fellaini had been deputising for Paul Pogba who picked up a hamstring against Basel in the Champions League, and he scored twice in the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend. Nevertheless, Mourinho will be relieved at the results of the scan after Belgium coach Roberto Martinez admitted following the game he feared the injury was serious. With Pogba not expected back until November Ander Herrera, who has played a bit-part role so far this season, could be recalled for the crunch game at Anfield. United are currently second in the table, behind neighbours Manchester City on goal difference, and seven points ahead of Liverpool. Information from the Press Association was used in this report.
