Connor Hourihane rescues Aston Villa; Frank Lampard sent off in Derby loss

Connor Hourihane scored from a free kick late in added time as Aston Villa salvaged a point with a 1-1 draw away against Blackburn Rovers in an English League Championship game.

Bradley Dack put Blackburn ahead in the 76th minute of his 50th appearance for the club, but Hourihane curled one in from 25 yards in the 93rd minute as Villa avoided losing a third consecutive game.

Jack Harrison, on loan from Manchester City, preserved Leeds United's unbeaten start to the season as his equaliser, with a minute left on the clock, earned a 1-1 draw at Millwall.

Jed Wallace had given Millwall the lead before Harrison drilled into the bottom corner. There was still time for Millwall's Tom Elliot to waste a chance in stoppage time.

Derby County manager Frank Lampard was sent to the stands as their three-game winning run came to an end after they lost 1-0 to Rotherham United at New York Stadium.

Lampard left the technical area to complain about a decision and was sent off 14 minutes after Ryan Manning scored from a penalty.

"I like communication with officials but there was none of that," Lampard said at a news conference. "It wasn't a penalty. They got a soft one but we didn't get one."

Brentford climbed to second in the table after a 2-0 victory over 10-man Wigan Athletic.

A goal in each half from Neil Maupay saw Brentford over the line in the encounter, with their cause helped greatly by the second-half sending off of Wigan's Sam Morsy.

Middlesbrough had started the day in second but lost their first league game as Teemu Pukki's goal earned Norwich City a 1-0 victory at Carrow Road.

Marley Watkins headed an 81st-minute winner as Bristol City claimed a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United at Ashton Gate to move up to third.

A fifth draw of the season for Nottingham Forest helped Swansea City climb to sixth, as the two sides played out a 1-1 stalemate at Liberty Stadium.

The most dramatic game of the day saw Reading climb off the bottom with a 3-2 victory at Preston North End after Leandro Bacuna scored an 81st-minute winner.

Marco Matias and Barry Bannan answered Benik Afobe's double as Sheffield Wednesday came back to draw Stoke City 2-2.

Queens Park Rangers won their third consecutive game, defeating Bolton Wanderers 2-1 after Luke Freeman and Eberechi Eze scored before Josh Magennis pulled one back.

Jarrod Bowen and Jackson Irvine lifted Hull City to a 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town at home.

Birmingham City were denied a first win of the season on Friday as Matt Phillips' strike earned West Bromwich Albion a 1-1 draw at St. Andrew's.
