Colombia name World Cup squad; Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez feature

Colombia have announced their final 23-man squad for the World Cup, with injured defender Cristian Zapata and midfielder Abel Aguilar included.

Monaco striker Radamel Falcao captains the side, while James Rodriguez, who famously lit up the 2014 tournament in Brazil, also makes the team.

Tottenham's Davinson Sanchez will make his World Cup debut alongside Brighton winger Jose Izquierdo, but manager Jose Pekerman omitted defender William Tesillo.

Milan defender Zapata was facing a race against time to find fitness to make the final squad and has been named in the final squad.

"My recovery is going smoothly and soon I will be 100 percent," Zapta said. "I am calm and at this moment we are adjusting details to contest the World Cup."

Colombia kick off their World Cup campaign against Japan on June 19, before facing Poland on June 24 and Senegal on June 28.
