Less than a minute into the game, it looked like it could be a nightmare evening for the hosts at Parc des Princes as PSG youth academy product Moussa Dembele put Celtic ahead. However, the French capital outfit hit back and annihilated their visitors with Neymar and Edinson Cavani scoring two goals each, while Kylian Mbappe, Marco Verratti and Dani Alves also got in on the act.
Positives
After a dreadful start, PSG reacted brilliantly and this was a truly devastating attacking display from Unai Emery's men. Meanwhile, after a disappointing performance in the flattering 4-1 home win over Nantes in Ligue 1 last Saturday, Neymar responded in perfect fashion with two excellent goals and an assist; he has scored in all five Champions League matches this season.
Having led 4-1 at half-time, it took until the 75th minute for the fifth goal to arrive. Once it did, PSG went on another tear and scored two more. That show of insatiability, albeit against a very poor Celtic side, bodes well for the final Group B encounter at Bayern Munich and into the knockout stages.
Negatives
It would be folly to list negatives after such a clinical showing but Celtic's early goal is the only obvious blot on an otherwise immaculate copybook. Questions must be asked and answered, particularly of Alves and Alphonse Areola's roles in the concession, although the latter looked like his view might have been obscured by Julian Draxler.

8 -- Emery went for his starting XI of choice and, although he saw his preferred defence concede inside a minute, his players reacted to falling behind and were lethal in front of goal.

GK Alphonse Areola, 5 -- The youth academy graduate did not have to do much apart from pick the ball out of his own net early on. Although it looked like he had no clear view of Dembele's effort, he and Alves should have done better.
DF Dani Alves, 6 -- The Brazil international scored a thumping seventh for PSG 10 minutes from time but his role in Celtic's consolation strike must not be glossed over. It was poor from such an experienced player and must not become a habit.
DF Marquinhos, 7 -- He was not really involved in Celtic's opener and was otherwise solid. He also assisted Mbappe's first-half goal.
DF Thiago Silva, 7 -- PSG's captain was commanding alongside Marquinhos and, although the pair did not have too much do, they dealt with what was asked of them with minimal fuss.
DF Layvin Kurzawa, 6 -- Quiet on the night but that was not necessarily his fault. PSG were so dominant and spent so much going forward that certain areas of the pitch did not see the ball and Kurzawa's was one of those that often missed out. However, he did assist Cavani's volleyed second.
MF Adrien Rabiot, 7 -- After a few average performances, he showed up and produced a very good display in the deep-lying midfielder role that is not his favourite position. His assist for Neymar's equaliser was inspired.
MF Marco Verratti, 8 -- Like Rabiot, Verratti was much better than he has been recently. He played Neymar in for his second goal after a delightful exchange with the Brazilian and also found the net himself, 15 minutes from time.
MF Julian Draxler, 7 -- Although he was not directly involved in any of the seven goals, he formed part of an impressive midfield alongside Rabiot and Verratti and continues to grow into the position.
FW Kylian Mbappe, 7 -- The 18-year-old got his goal in the first half and was a constant threat to the Celtic back line with his pace.
FW Edinson Cavani, 8 -- He cannot stop scoring and took his two goals well as he closes on Zlatan Ibrahimovic's all-time club record of 156 across all competitions. El Matador's second strike was particularly sweet -- a perfectly timed volleyed effort from Kurzawa's cross that went in off the post.
FW Neymar, 9 -- Central to most of what PSG did well, Neymar helped himself to two goals and an assist in an electric showing that was light years from his lethargic effort against Nantes. Granted, it was against limited opposition but, when he wants to take centre stage, Neymar can and will.
Substitutes
MF Javier Pastore, 6 -- Replaced Draxler with 23 minutes to go and contributed towards PSG's late flurry of goals.
FW Angel Di Maria, NR -- He replaced Mbappe after 76 minutes and was on the pitch when the two final goals were scored.
MF Giovani Lo Celso, NR -- The third of three Argentines to come on, the recently capped senior international earned an assist on Alves' thunderous late strike.
