Man Utd's Romelu Lukaku: Goal tally vs. Premier League's 'big 6' is low

Romelu Lukaku has said that he's not concerned about his performance against the Premier League's top clubs following Manchester United's 0-0 away draw against Liverpool on Saturday -- but should he be?

In all, Lukaku has played in 194 games in the Premier League, with spells at Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion, Everton and, now, United, whom he joined in July for £75 million.

The 24-year-old has scored a total of 92 goals against 30 different Premier League clubs since joining Chelsea from Anderlecht prior to the 2011-12 season.

Of those, he has only scored 15 goals in 58 games against the "big six" clubs (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur) -- which means he has scored only 16.3 percent of his goals in the 29.9 percent of his games that have come against the top sides.

Most notably, Lukaku has never scored in six games against Chelsea, only once in eight games against Tottenham and just twice in 11 games against Arsenal.

The Belgium international has scored more goals against Liverpool than any of the other top clubs -- five goals in 12 games -- though he has not scored against them since Oct. 4, 2015, a run of four games without hitting the back of the net. Lukaku also has scored four goals against Manchester City, including in his most recent game against them on Jan. 15.

As for Manchester United, his current club, Lukaku has been significantly more off the mark. He scored only three times in eight games -- though all three were on May 19, 2013, when he scored a hat trick for West Brom in the 5-5 draw at Old Trafford that marked Sir Alex Ferguson's final match in charge of United.

Who is Lukaku scoring the most goals against? He has nine goals in 11 games against West Ham United, his most against any Premier League opponent, as well as eight in 10 against Sunderland and six in eight against Aston Villa, both of whom now play in the Championship.

He also has scored five goals in four games against Bournemouth -- though four of those were in one game, a 6-3 victory by Everton on Feb. 4, 2017. The only other team he has scored more goals against than games played is Reading, with three goals in two appearances in 2012-13.
