Wei Shihao moves from Portugal to Beijing Guoan for 2018 CSL

Beijing Guoan have announced the signing of China international Wei Shihao from Portuguese side Leixoes ahead of the 2018 Chinese Super League (CSL) season.

Wei, who made his debut for the Marcello Lippi-coached China national team at last month's East Asian Championship against South Korea, spent last season on loan at Shanghai SIPG.

The signing of the 22-year-old, which was confirmed on the club's social media outlets, is a coup for the capital side and the German coach Roger Schmidt.

They are targeting an improved showing in the 2018 CSL after finishing in ninth last season, with Guangzhou Evergrande securing a seventh consecutive title.

Wei is one of the most highly rated young players in the country.

He scored on his debut against the South Koreans before also netting against North Korea last month.

China failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, but have booked their place at January's 2019 AFC Asian Cup in United Arab Emirates.

Wei played 14 league matches for Shanghai SIPG on-loan in 2017, scoring three goals, under Andre Villas-Boas.
