Celtic set new British unbeaten domestic record of 63 games

Scottish champions Celtic have set a new British record for domestic games unbeaten after recording their 63rd in a row with a 4-0 win at St Johnstone on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers's side, who equalled the 100-year record set by Willie Maley's Celtic team after drawing with Kilmarnock last weekend, broke it with victory at McDiarmid Park.

Maley and Celtic achieved their landmark in 1917, with prolific goal scorer Patsy Gallagher the star of their show.

Rodgers, who has been in charge of the Glasgow giants for 18 months as manager, has won three trophies and could be on course for back-to-back Treble successes without suffering a single defeat.

But Celtic would still have some way to go to match Romanian side FCSB's tally of 104, set in the 1980s, and the 88-game streak set by Gibraltarian club Lincoln between 2009 and 2014.
