Cameroon manager Hugo Broos refused to single out Vincent Aboukabar for his wastefulness in front of goal in his side's 1-1 draw with Australia in the Confederations Cup on Thursday. Aboukabar, who spent last season on loan at Besiktas, failed to convert a number of chances as the African Nations Cup holders out-shot their opponents 19 to 5 on the day. However, Broos defended the forward, who has scored 14 goals in 49 appearances for his country. "This is the life of a front player," Broos told a news conference. "Sometimes you score the goals with your eyes closed and sometimes you miss chances that you can't miss. "Today he was a little bit unlucky in the game. He had two or three good chances and didn't score. "That can happen. It's a pity for us that it happened. "This team is growing, this team is gaining experience and, don't worry, if tomorrow I find a scorer who can score with his eyes closed, he will be playing." When asked about the shot discrepancy between the two sides, Broos admitted such an advantage should have resulted in victory. "I think the statistics say everything about the game. When you see this you have always to win the game, that is for sure. "Over the 90 minutes we were the better team, we had the best chances and then you have to win it. "The chances were there but we didn't score and then you can't win the game." Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa collected Cameroon's only goal, opening the scoring just before the break with a chip over a stranded Maty Ryan after racing behind the Australia defence. But he lamented the lack of three points after the match. "We had opportunities, so did they and then luck wasn't on our side," Zambo Anguissa said. "It's part of football and we live with it. "Frankly, yes, I am quite disappointed because we had the means to win that match. "We started well, we opened the scoring but then there was disorganisation. It's our fault. "There is one more game against Germany. There will be pressure but it is our job. We will do everything we can to win against Germany."
