Enyimba get favourable Confederation Cup draw, Aduana Stars in Group of Death

Enyimba were handed a favourable CAF Confederation Cup group-stage draw, but Ghanaian champions Aduana Stars have been pitted in the Group of Death.

Stars, who saw off Fosa Juniors of Madagascar to reach the Final 16, overcame their troubled start to the domestic season to progress, but appear unlikely to make it out of the group stage.

They've been pitted against ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast, Moroccan heavyweights Raja Casablanca and Congolese giants AS Vita Club.

It represents a stern test for debutants Stars.

Enyimba, the only one of four Nigerian sides to progress through the Playoff Round, have, by contrast, been handed a favourable group which includes debutants Williamsville AC, CARA Brazzaville and Djoliba.

The Malians saw off another NPFL side - MFM FC - in the last round, and the People's Elephant will be unlikely to underestimate their threat away from home.

Intriguingly, three of the CECAFA representatives still standing in the tournament have been drawn together in Group D.

USM Alger are favourites to top the group, but any one of Rayon Sports, Young Africans and Gor Mahia could progress alongside the North Africans.

The three-way tangle between the three East African side should be one of the most intriguing subplots of the group stage.

Finally, in Group B, Al Hilal of Sudan will be favourites to progress, although North African duo Renaissance Berkane and Al Masry are testing opponents for the Omdurman giants.

UD Songo of Mozambique complete the group, but are outsiders to progress.
