Henrique's return to Brisbane Roar no certainty - Jade North

The Slippery Fish might be back in the River City but Brisbane defender Jade North is unsure when Henrique will make an A-League return for the Roar.

Henrique, 32, earned his colourful moniker during a stellar Roar stint that included the winning penalty in Brisbane's epic 2011 Grand Final triumph over Central Coast.

The Brazilian-born Australian left Brisbane in 2016 after three championships in seven seasons.

However, free agent Henrique is back training with Brisbane to try to make an emotional A-League return ahead of Saturday's Suncorp Stadium clash with second-placed Newcastle.

North admitted Henrique looked fit after welcoming the livewire back but was uncertain when the fan favourite would be unleashed again in Roar colours.

"[Coach] John [Aloisi] has invited him down to train with us," he said.

"He looks fit, he's loved by the fans and he's a quality player.

"But that [Henrique's return] is something for them to discuss -- it's just great to have him around the group again."

After leaving Brisbane, Henrique had stints at Adelaide United and in Malaysia and Thailand in recent years but failed to adjust to life in Asia.

North said the seventh-placed Roar were primed for a move up the ladder against second-placed surprise packets the Jets after a three-week break.

"If you don't look at the ladder, you shouldn't be playing football," he said.
