Brazil manager Tite has signed a new contract to remain with the Selecao until the end of the 2022 World Cup, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Wednesday. "The CBF is investing in a long-term project by guaranteeing the technical commission six-and-a-half years leading the national team," said CBF executive director Rogerio Caboclo. "We believe that careful planning and judicious execution will lead Brazilian football to the results that we hope for." National team coordinator Edu Gaspar also signed on for a further four years, and Caboclo said bringing the two men back was an easy decision, despite Brazil's disappointing loss to Belgium at the quarterfinal stage at this summer's World Cup. "Throughout this first phase in CBF they demonstrated aligning values in which we have great belief, like talent, competence and dedication," Caboclo said. A former Copa Libertadores and Club World Cup winner, Tite, 57, was hired to replace Dunga in the summer of 2016 and he immediately re-energised the team, taking them from sixth in CONMEBOL qualifying to first in the table and favourites to win their sixth world title heading into Russia. Of his experience with the national team, the former Corinthians coach, who won 20 of his 26 matches with Brazil, said: "The experience with this first cycle established a relationship of trust among all, that will be reflected in the next steps. "As I see it, the CBF gave us the conditions in which to build an atmosphere of unity and of professionalism and that is the way we will continue. It is a big challenge and we are delighted to face up to it with the focus on the upcoming games and tournaments." Brazil's next matches are friendlies on Sept. 7 and 11 in the United States. The first is against the U.S., the second against a team as yet undecided. The team's next big tournament is the 2019 Copa America, an event it will host.
