Oageng Maphorisa shines as Botswana down Seychelles

Oageng Maphorisa added his second goal of the COSAFA U-17 Cup as Botswana took a major step to the semi finals by defeating the Seychelles 2-1 on Saturday.

Maphorisa scored the only goal of the game for the Zebras - a late penalty - as they downed Mauritius in their opening fixture, and was again influential as they maintained their 100 percent record at the St. Francois Xavier Stadium, Port Louis.

With only the group winners guaranteed a spot in the final four, Botswana's progression isn't yet certain, as they could cede top spot if they're defeated by Namibia in their final group game.

The Namibians failed to build on their opening 8-3 victory over the Seychelles as they fell 1-0 to the hosts. Jeremy Kawoa was the hero for Mauritius, as he latched onto an excellent ball from Jean Aristide to keep the islanders' hopes of progression alive.

The Seychelles were much improved after their opening demolition, but were undone when Maphorisa struck for Botswana, before Tebogo Kopelang added a second.

Rino Pauline halved the deficit as the Seychelles again demonstrated their potency in front of goal, and they troubled Botswana during the latter stages as the Zebra's defence showed signs of weakness.

The winners of the tournament will qualify for next year's U-17 African Cup of Nations in Tanzania.
