DORTMUND, Germany -- Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus is not surprised by his team's good run in both the Bundesliga and Champions League with Lucien Favre at the helm.
On Wednesday, Dortmund went top of Group A ahead of Atletico Madrid on goal difference after beating AS Monaco 3-0 at the Westfalenstadion. Three days prior, Favre's men moved into first in the Bundesliga with a 4-2 win against Bayer Leverkusen.
"I know what our coach can do and what his philosophy is," Reus told reporters. "So I'm not surprised that we're doing so well. But we also have a lot of work ahead of us. Currently, we have the momentum on our side."
Dortmund are still unbeaten since the 60-year-old took over at the start of this season and often excel in the latter stages of their games. In the Bundesliga, they have scored 11 of 19 goals after the hour mark and scored all of their three goals against Monaco after the break.
Defender Manuel Akanji explained after the game that those late goals are down to the Favre's tactical adjustments.
He said: "It's down to the tactical adjustments the coach is making, especially at half-time. You can always prepare for an opponent before the match but you never really know what you will be confronted with. The adjustments are helping us big time."
Dortmund's opener was scored by half-time substitute Jacob Bruun Larsen in the 51st minute before Paco Alcacer (72) and Reus (92) added their names to the scoresheet.
Bruun Larsen also found praise for his manager after the game, telling reporters: "The coach is trying to get the best out of us. He is obsessed with every detail. I enjoy it a lot, I find his work very, very good. I'm looking forward to every training because I know I will be a better player when I get home afterwards."
BVB will try to maintain the lead in the Bundesliga against FC Augsburg on Saturday but they will carry injury concerns into the game.
Christian Pulisic had to sit out the match against Monaco due to a torn muscle fibre in his calf, while winger Jadon Sancho had to leave the field in the 84th minute due to thigh problems.
