Christian Pulisic says he's still "learning a lot" with Borussia Dortmund, and he has a list of areas in which he can improve.

At 19, Pulisic is already the talisman of the United States national team and a key figure for his Bundesliga club, with Dortmund coach Peter Bosz calling him their "best player" in a defeat to Bayern Munich earlier this month.

After speaking at length last week about the opportunities that developing in Europe have offered him, Pulisic told The Independent that regular playing time has allowed him to learn the finer points of the game.

"I am playing every week in the Bundesliga, in the Champions League, against top teams," he said. "When you do that every week, you are going to improve. When you play against the best players, you're going to grow. I'm learning a lot: tactically, technically, gaining strength."

Pulisic, who missed Tuesday's Champions League game through injury, said he's specifically "working on my final ball, my precision in front of goal, my one-on-one attacking ability, just new ways to beat defenders and help my team."

His rise to a regular starter in a Champions League team at such age -- particularly for an American -- has led Pulisic to be labelled as a unique talent, but the Pennsylvania native insists all of his success is a result of hard work.

"When I came here, nobody knew who I was, nobody really cared," he said. It was me against all the other players fighting for positions. Of course I went as far as I could in the U.S. system, and I really feel that it helped me. But coming here, nothing was easy, and I worked for it all.

"What I learned is that nothing is given easy to you. Nothing was going to be spoon-fed to me. That's why it was a huge step in my development, and the perfect environment for me."

But though he's still developing, Pulisic knows where his greatest strengths lies.

"I love having the ball, just running with it, and going through difficult situations," he added. "It's just fun for me whenever I have it."
