Transfer Talk: Spurs trio want new contracts after Harry Kane's summer deal

The transfer window for all of Europe's big five leagues is closed, but that doesn't stop Transfer Talk from rummaging around about who will be moving where come January.

Spurs trio want new deals after Kane's big contract

Several Tottenham Hotspur players are demanding pay raises following striker Harry Kane's big contract extension, according to the Sun.

Kane secured a six-year deal reportedly worth £60m over the summer -- the richest in team history -- following a season where he scored 30 Premier League goals and won the Golden Boot at the World Cup.

Among the players who are reportedly demanding a 40 percent pay hike are Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose -- but club chairman Daniel Levy has balked at the idea.

Spurs have lost three straight matches, including a Champions League 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan that saw them concede a 1-0 lead.

Rabiot open to City return

Adrien Rabiot "is open to" a return to Manchester City next summer, according to the Metro.

The 23-year-old spent a year in City's academy, only to return to his native France reportedly because of homesickness. But the length to which the club went to help Rabiot acclimatise to life in England stuck with the player, and has now put Pep Guardiola's side in an advantageous position to sign the midfielder.

The France international's contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires next summer, and he'll be free to sign a precontract with clubs abroad should he fail to agree terms on a new deal at Parc des Princes. Should contract talks continue to stall in the French capital, PSG could look to sell Rabiot in the winter window, and extract a fee for a player unwilling to negotiate a new contract.

The report states that if that's the Ligue 1 champions' course of action, they likely won't bid for a player who they'd be able to sign for free six months later. Barcelona, Juventus and Tottenham are also reportedly tracking Rabiot, and could be interested in striking a deal in January.

Barca seek to lure Herrera back to La Liga

Another midfielder with less than a year on his contract is Ander Herrera, who will be free to sign a precontract with clubs outside of England in January, and the Sun reports that Barcelona are interested in signing the former Athletic Bilbao man.

The report states that the 29-year-old would prefer to remain with Manchester United, but is growing frustrated by the lack of progress being made over a deal to keep him at Old Trafford. His representatives have held talks with United over a new two-year contract, but nothing has been signed as yet.

And the Sun cites a source at Old Trafford who says that: "It was assumed everything would be boxed off by now but that doesn't look to be the case."

Barca were unsuccessful in their attempts to bring Herrera back to La Liga this past summer, but could they get their man in January?

Tap-ins

- Rafa Benitez is set to walk away from Newcastle unless there's significant change in the club's stance on transfer spending, writes the Mirror.

- Liverpool have not yet offered midfielder James Milner a new contract beyond this season and could risk losing him on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail. The 32-year-old has been key in the squad's six-game win streak.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who reportedly had interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid, is set to sign a new Lazio contract. The Serbia international impressed at the World Cup and was viewed as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba at Old Trafford, per the Daily Mail.
