Real Madrid to save €300m for Neymar but target other options
Marca have claimed that Real Madrid have €300m burning a hole in their pocket, after the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo among other things, so why are they not buying anyone?
Well, because they are waiting to splash it all on PSG forward Neymar it seems and want to see if UEFA punish the French club for FFP violations first.
If that all goes up in smoke then Mauro Icardi, Inter Milan's striker, is first on the list. But they are also reportedly keen on Valencia's Rodrigo and Red Bull Leipzig's Germany international Timo Werner.
Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski is also mentioned, but it does seem like the Poland international is rather a second (or perhaps fourth) thought.
Milan reach agreement for SMS
The continuing speculation over the future of Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic might be about to come to an end with word that AC Milan have reached an agreement to sign the coveted young midfielder with the Serie A deadline day looming on Friday.
As reported by venerable Italian financial newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Milan have struck a €40 million deal with their Roman rivals that will see Milinkovic-Savic move to the San Siro on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
The 23-year-old prodigy has been linked with several European heavyweight clubs over the past few months, with the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus all linked to the Serbia international.
Should all go to plan before Friday's transfer deadline, Milinkovic-Savic will be the second big-name signing procured this window by the Rossoneri's new owners, the Elliott Management group, following the recent arrival of Gonzalo Higuain.
Arsenal confident over Ramsey future
Arsenal are refusing to sweat over the foreseeable future of Aaron Ramsey despite the Wales midfielder moving into the final year of his contract at the Emirates and, as yet, failing to reach any kind of agreement over a new one.
The Mirror reports that the Gunners remain "confident" of coercing Ramsey into committing himself beyond next summer despite known interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Lazio, several Chinese clubs and perhaps most notably, Barcelona.
The 27-year-old, who scored 11 goals in 32 appearances last season, is perfectly willing to hold his ground and push for a salary akin to that of Arsenal's highest earners, like Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The fact that several big clubs are keenly monitoring the negotiations is likely to strengthen Ramsey's bargaining position as he and his representatives continue to seek a weekly wage in excess of £250,000.
Given that the Premier League side are also attempting to trim their wage bill down under new coach Unai Emery, it might be that the purported impasse between the two parties continues a while longer.
Terry linked with shock move
Currently a free agent after leaving Aston Villa at the tail end of last season, John Terry has been linked with a shock move to altogether sunnier climes.
Sporting Lisbon have emerged as a potential destination after Terry reportedly held introductory talks with Madeira Rodrigues, who is currently in the running to take over as the Portuguese club's new president.
The Sun reports that the 37-year-old former Chelsea and England captain met with Rodrigues on Wednesday where he was told that his role at Sporting would not just be as a player, but as an ambassador too.
Chelsea miss out on Rugani
Said to be high on Maurizio Sarri's list of transfer targets, Chelsea are set to miss the chance to bring in Daniele Rugani from Juventus with news that the highly-rated young defender is poised to sign a new contract with the Serie A champions.
After being heavily linked with the Blues over the summer, Tuttomercato says that Rugani is now "ready to renew" his deal with the Biaconeri, with a five-year, €3.5m-per-season offer on the table.
After coming through the youth ranks at Empoli, Rugani has spent his entire senior career on the books at Juve, gradually edging his way into the first-team frame over the past few years while picking up seven international caps for Italy in the process.

- Cagliari are closing in on a deal to sign Ragnar Klavan from Liverpool, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. Negotiations over a €2m transfer have reached an "advanced stage" with the 32-year-old Estonian suddenly surplus to requirements at Anfield.
- Cruzeiro will be hoping that the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree after signing the teenage son of former Balon d'Or winner Ronaldinho, according to Globoesporte.com.

- AS is reporting that former Man City and Middlesbrough striker Alvaro Negredo is on the very cusp of quitting Besiktas in order to sign for Monaco. Negredo scored a late goal for Besiktas against LASK Linz on Thursday to see the Turkish advance in the Europa League.
