D.C. United in 'serious' Rooney talks
Everton manager Sam Allardyce has spoken of what he called "the Wayne Rooney saga," saying he wants Rooney to stay and adding that any offer to tempt him from his boyhood club would have to be "massive."
The Washington Post reports that such an offer could soon come from D.C. United, saying Rooney "is in serious talks" about a summer move.
It adds that the former England star "has grown frustrated" at Everton, and D.C. United would have to fork out around $17 million for him.
Despite that fee, the Post says "talks between Rooney's representatives and the MLS club have accelerated in recent weeks."
It quotes a source "familiar with the negotiations" as saying D.C. United have "a 50 percent chance of acquiring him during the MLS transfer and trade window, which will open July 10."
In addition to Rooney, D.C. are mulling moves for West Ham and Mexico striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and Nice forward Mario Balotelli, the Post reported sources as saying.
United may move for Pulisic, with Martial in deal
With the likelihood of forward Anthony Martial leaving Manchester United seemingly on the increase, the Mirror reports that he could be off to Borussia Dortmund in a deal that brings Christian Pulisic to Old Trafford.
It says United have "turned their attention" to United States international playmaker Pulisic and are interested in a player-plus-cash deal that would see Martial move to the Bundesliga.
Pulisic, rated at around £40 million, has been linked with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal -- but United could now be the leading contenders to do business with Dortmund.
Last month, reports said Martial had rejected a new contract at Old Trafford amid frustration over a lack of playing time, suggesting Barcelona as a potential destination.
And earlier this month he was linked with another swap, this time involving Chelsea's Willian, a long-term target for former Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
Wenger departure could damage Dunk hopes
Arsene Wenger's departure from Arsenal means uncertainty surrounds their transfer plans, and the Mirror says Brighton vice-captain Lewis Dunk is among those affected.
Dunk has enjoyed an outstanding season, helping the Seagulls secure safety following their promotion from the Championship, and the Mirror reports that his consistent performances have attracted Arsenal's attention.
But the central defender "faces an anxious wait to learn whether the Londoners will maintain their interest."
The Mirror says Dunk's form "has been noticed" by a number of clubs, but the Gunners' planning "is in limbo with Wenger leaving."
Dunk is under contract at Brighton until 2022 but, with interest growing, the club "may have to offer him another new deal to stay on the south coast."

- Bournemouth's defence hasn't always been reliable this season, and the Guardian reports that boss Eddie Howe is targeting young Porto centre-back Diogo Queiros.
It says Bournemouth "have watched Queiros on several occasions" and are ready to make an offer for the 19-year-old.
