Transfer Talk: Maguire tops United's wishlist, but Mourinho won't 'go crazy'

Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window; Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.

Maguire tops Man United shortlist

It looks like Jose Mourinho has found his first target for the summer, with Harry Maguire the latest name to be linked with a move to Manchester United.

The giant centre-back has been in impressive form since joining Leicester from Hull for £17 million, winning his first England cap in October.

Maguire could soon be on the plane to the World Cup, but first there's talk of a £35m switch to Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Mirror, Mourinho sees the 25-year-old as the ideal replacement for Chris Smalling, and could make his move as soon as the season is over.

Mourinho rules out 'crazy' spending

Man United may have lost to rock-bottom West Brom on Sunday to hand the title to Manchester City, but Mourinho isn't about to go "crazy."

The United boss was frustrated by his team's performance at Old Trafford but dismissed the suggestion that he will match City's spending in the summer.

Mourinho has splashed out more than £300m on new players since joining United, but said after the defeat to West Brom: "We are not going to spend more than we can. We are not going to do anything crazy.

"We are just trying to improve a little bit more, to keep the sequence of it."

As reported by the Independent, Mourinho also asked for "respect" for his team's record this season, with United still on course to finish as Premier League runners-up.

Lemar on the market

Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Thomas Lemar after Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev admitted the club are prepared to sell the midfielder.

Lemar was close to a Deadline Day move to the Gunners last year but pulled out of a hastily arranged transfer at the last minute. However, Arsene Wenger is expected to return for the 22-year-old in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp is also looking to spend some of the the Reds' Philippe Coutinho windfall on a midfielder, with Lemar reportedly fitting the bill.

When asked if he will enter negotiations for the France international, Vasilyev nodded and told Telefoot, as reported via Teamtalk, "Good luck to those who want him."

It's thought Lemar could cost up to €120m, which would make him the most expensive player in Premier League history.
