Transfer Talk: Man City to swoop for Kylian Mbappe if PSG face FFP sanctions

Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window; Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.

City plot audacious Mbappe move

Manchester City are monitoring Paris Saint-Germain's Financial Fair Play case with a view to making a sensational play to sign Kylian Mbappe if UEFA sanctions push them to sell some of their star players, claims the Mirror.

The France international is on loan at PSG, with a £167 million deal in place to make his stay in the French capital permanent this summer.

The 19-year-old has struck 19 times in all competitions, chipping in with a further 17 assists to impress in his debut season with Les Parisiens.

Pep Guardiola is a known admirer but the Blues will almost certainly find that PSG will explore other avenues before selling their prized possession.

City lead De Ligt chase as Pep eyes Thiago reunion

Manchester City are also the front-runners to sign Ajax wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt to help their back-line after shipping nine goals in their last four games.

The Mirror claims the Blues will have to match the Dutch giants' £50m valuation after the 18-year-old's promising start to his career.

De Ligt has been likened to his compatriot and Oranje captain Virgil van Dijk.

Bayern Munich and Arsenal are also keen, with the player likely to see his wages, reportedly set at £15,000 per week, substantially increased.

Elsewhere, the soon-to-be champions could look at adding Thiago Alcantara with Guardiola eager to work with the Spanish midfielder once again.

The Mail says a £50m offer could be forthcoming this summer to further strengthen City's squad.

West Ham ready to splash cash on Nice striker

West Ham's long search for a top striker has seen them consider Nice star Alassane Plea, with the Sun claiming the Hammers must cough up £25m.

The 25-year-old has been a huge hit for Les Aiglons, with 18 goals this term.

It could mean £9m January arrival Jordan Hugill is moved on already after the forward's failure to settle quickly.

Tap-ins

- Inter Milan will compete with PSG for Vasco starlet Paulinho, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri must pay the €30m buyout clause, while Atletico Madrid could rejoin the race having seen a €14m offer knocked back in January.

- Steven Gerrard could be set for his first foray into senior management with Ipswich ready to hand the Liverpool academy coach an opportunity after Mick McCarthy's departure.

The Sun claims owner Marcus Evans has already reached out to gage interest from the Reds legend.

- Everton's search for the next Leighton Baines has taken them to Argentina with the Sun reporting that the Toffees are scouting Boca Juniors star Frank Fabra.

Boca will demand at least £7.5m for the 27-year-old, with scout Martyn Glover in Argentina to take a closer look at the Colombian star.
