Transfer Rater: Jan Oblak to Arsenal, Mario Balotelli to West Ham United

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the Whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Manolo Gabbiadini to Lazio

Southampton forward Gabbiadini is a Lazio target according to Tuttosport. The Italian international joined the Premier League side in January 2017, but after an impressive start, his form has fallen off a cliff. The 26-year-old has scored only four goals in 25 Premier League matches this season, although he has started just 10 of those games. The Serie A side reportedly see the forward as the ideal man to support Ciro Immobile next season and are looking at taking him on loan with an obligation to buy after a set number of appearances.

Jonny Evans to Tottenham

The Telegraph reports that Tottenham are thinking of triggering the £3 million release clause in Evans' contract should West Brom get relegated. With Alan Pardew's side 10 points from safety, it looks like the defender will be available for a cut-price fee this summer. Should Tottenham sell Toby Alderweireld, whose contract talks have stalled, they could move for Evans. They would likely face competition from North London rivals Arsenal, though, who have previously expressed interest in the Northern Ireland international.

Jan Oblak to Arsenal

With Arsenal considering Petr Cech's long-term future at 35, they have identified Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Oblak as a potential replacement, according to the Evening Standard. The Slovenian would only consider a move to the Emirates should they reach the Champions League, which would be dependent on Arsene Wenger's side beating Oblak's current team to the Europa League. With Real Madrid, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain also linked with the 25-year-old, it would be a real coup.

Mario Balotelli to West Ham United

According to Turkish media outlet Aspor, West Ham are ready to go head-to-head with Galatasaray for Balotelli's signature. The Italian forward will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, when his contract at Nice expires. With less than six months left on his deal, he's able to speak to clubs outside of France. The former Manchester City and Liverpool striker has 22 goals in 31 appearances for his club this season in what's been a resurrection of his career since moving to Nice.

Matteo Darmian to Arsenal

With Hector Bellerin's future at the Emirates uncertain, Manchester United full-back Darmian is an Arsenal target. Goal suggests the Italian has become a serious target for the North Londoners as they have been forced to draw up a list of possible replacements for the Spaniard. Darmian is likely to leave Old Trafford this season having fallen out of favour. He's made just 13 club appearances this season and Jose Mourinho is unlikely to stand in his way should a decent bid come in for him.
