Liverpool moving on from Monaco's Thomas Lemar; Fabinho hints at United switch

Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window, and Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.

Liverpool ready for life without Lemar

Liverpool have ended their interest in Monaco star Thomas Lemar, with the Liverpool Echo reporting the Reds have not included the France international on their summer transfer wish list.

Lemar was seen as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who left last month after being sold to Barcelona for £142m.

Arsenal tabled a £90 million bid for Lemar last summer that Monaco knocked back.

Jurgen Klopp will hope failing to bring in a replacement does not cost the Reds a top-four place, whilst also expecting an alternative to be quickly identified for the summer.

The 2018 World Cup and the Premier League's self-imposed early closing of this summer's transfer window will put pressure on clubs to get their business done early.

United lead Fabinho race

Man United are in pole position to sign Fabinho, reports Calciomercato citing Brazilian newspaper Lance, with the Monaco midfielder admitting he could be on the move this summer.

Fabinho told the outlet that his time with the club was good, but that it was coming to an end as he readied himself to seek new challenges elsewhere.

Fabinho could offer an upgrade to Nemanja Matic, or provide Jose Mourinho with the chance to switch to a midfield three to release Paul Pogba more.

Arsenal eye return move for Besiktas star

Arsenal have made a move to bring Oguzhan Ozyakup back to the club with Turkish source Milliyet reporting the Gunners could sign the Besiktas star on a free transfer once his deal expires this summer.

Ozyakup left Arsenal in 2012 for around £400,000, having made just two appearances under Arsene Wenger.

But more than 200 appearances and two Super Lig titles later for Besiktas, a return to the Premier League could be on, though the Turkish champions are eager to persuade their captain to extend his stay at the Vodafone Park in Istanbul.

Tap-ins

- West Ham and Leicester are keen to sign Patrick Roberts from Manchester City once his loan to Celtic expires, according to The Sun.

The Foxes hoped to land Roberts as part of a possible Riyad Mahrez deal, while relations with the Hammers are not good after blocking their loan move for Islam Slimani, who eventually joined Newcastle.

The 21-year-old has two years remaining on his deal at the Etihad but after two straight seasons on loan at Park Head, a permanent move for around £15m could be on the cards.

- Wolves will look to sign AC Milan striker Andre Silva this summer, according to TalkSport.

After interest in January, the Championship leaders could utilise their relationship with super agent Jorge Mendes to acquire the Portugal striker in their return to the Premier League.

After a €40m move to the San Siro from Porto, Silva has failed to score a goal in Serie A and after the emergence of Patrick Cutrone, the Rossoneri may cut their losses.

- Angel Di Maria has revealed he was very close to joining Barcelona last summer, says the Daily Mail. Having seen PSG acquire Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, he became less important to Unai Emery's side, but the Argentina international said, in the end, it wasn't meant to be.
