Transfer Rater: Patrice Evra to West Ham, Daniele Rugani to Arsenal

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Patrice Evra to West Ham

Evra looks set for a return to the Premier League after Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia linked the 36-year-old with a move to West Ham. The former Manchester United full-back has been without a club since the mutual agreement to cancel his Marseille contract in November after he kicked a fan prior to a Europa League clash against Vitoria de Guimaraes. He was banned from UEFA competition for six months but is clear to play in the Premier League. It is believed he was also an Everton transfer target but the Frenchman prefers a move to London and a reunion with David Moyes.

Max Meyer to AC Milan

Meyer is a man in high demand. According to reports in Calciomercato, AC Milan have joined the race to sign the highly rated Schalke midfielder. The Serie A side are in the market for a deep-lying playmaker and believe the 23-year-old fits the bill. His deal expires in the summer and he is already a Barcelona, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool transfer target.

Thorgan Hazard to Leicester City

The 2015-16 Premier League champions have identified a replacement for wantaway Riyad Mahrez, who was subject of Manchester City transfer rumours on deadline day. Leicester want Hazard, Borussia Monchengladbach's versatile attacking midfielder, and hope the temptation of playing in the English top flight will be enough to see Eden's brother give up European football with the Bundesliga side. German outlet Kicker claim there was a possibility he'd link up with his brother at Chelsea but a move to Leicester now looks more likely.

Lautaro Martinez to Arsenal

Racing Club have rejected a third Inter Milan bid for Martinez, believed to be in the region of €20 million, with the Argentine side holding out for more. Arsenal, as well as Liverpool, are long-term admirers of the 20-year-old forward and will see this as a boost. Martinez has regularly caught the eye of the new-look recruitment system at Arsenal and the club are looking to put together a package to bring him to London in the summer, according to reports in the Mirror.

Daniele Rugani to Arsenal

Davide Torchia, Rugani's agent, has revealed that Arsenal are keen on the Juventus centre-back. In an interview with Radio Sportiva in Italy, Torchia spoke openly about Arsenal's interest in his client: "Arsenal? They didn't launch any assaults for him. They expressed a liking for him, but we have respect for Juventus," he said. Arsene Wenger is in the market for defensive upgrades after failing to land Jonny Evans in the winter window.
