          TOP STORY: Real Madrid plot £500m Premier League raid

          It has been a miserable season for Real Madrid so far.

          The reigning La Liga champions currently stand 19 points behind runaway leaders Barcelona, and were unceremoniously dumped out of the Copa del Rey this week by a 2-1 home defeat to local neighbours Leganes.

          Just how do they plan to turn the ship around, you might be wondering. By spending big, on the best talent the Premier League has to offer.

          The Daily Mail reports that Madrid will splurge up to £500 million to complete a hat trick of blockbuster signings. Eden Hazard tops Florentino Perez's wanted list -- with the club president prepared to break the official world transfer record by bidding £200m -- while David De Gea and Harry Kane complete the stellar lineup of reinforcements.

          And who will lead this new team of Galacticos? Well, the Mail also claims that Mauricio Pochettino is being lined up to replace Zinedine Zidane in the hot seat, having impressed the Madrid hierarchy with his reign at Tottenham.

          The report states that the Spanish giants have made contact with Pochettino's representatives, but Daniel Levy is bound to put up a fight to keep the Argentine at Spurs.

          22.53 GMT: It is nothing new to see Chelsea's Eden Hazard rumoured with a move to Real Madrid. Sunday a new potential home for Hazard emerged in the papers: Manchester City.

          The Sunday Mirror claims that Pep Guardiola and City are lining up a £150 million offer to sign Hazard in the summer.

          Could the rich get richer?

          If Hazard's contract situation at Chelsea isn't resolved before the end of the season, City reportedly could emerge as a very realistic possibility and challenge Real Madrid for the Belgian's service. Wow.

          22.44 GMT: Everton have been "offered" the chance to sign prized Anderlecht talent Leander Dendoncker, according to Belgian newspaper, La Derniere Heure.

          The reported £20m man has drawn interest from fellow Premier League clubs like Manchester United and West Ham but with these reports now Everton seem to have jumped to the front of the queue.

          22.34 GMT: Following Tottenham's 1-1 FA Cup draw with Newport County, Mauricio Pochettino addressed rumours that his club are close to signing Lucas Moura from PSG in his post-match news conference.

          "Of course we have some options. We are going in the last few days to see if we can add players that add good quality," he told football.london.

          "There's a lot of rumours about different players. You know I never talk about rumours," he said. "We'll see what happens in the last few days."

          So the waiting game goes on regarding Moura.

          22.13 GMT: After executing a buy-back clause to bring Gerard Deulofeu back to the Camp Nou this summer, Barcelona are reportedly already looking to sell the enigmatic Spanish winger.

          With Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho all coming in, there is now no room for Deulofeu at the Spanish leaders. Barcelona, according to reports are determined to bring in £17.6m (€20m) for the star but so far no one has taken the bait.

          Napoli and AC Milan are two clubs with reported interest in the talented winger, Deulofeu having impressed during a loan spell at Milan last season.

          21.55 GMT: It has been a wild month for both former and current United States internationals with Landon Donovan unretiring to join Club Leon and Mix Diskerud joining Man City among the most surprising moves of the window.

          The latest American linked with a shock move is Jozy Altidore. Journalist Elmer Polanco indicated on ESPN Deportes program "Jorge Ramos y su banda" that Club America are making a bid to sign the Toronto FC and USMNT hitman.

          Club America have failed so far in their pursuit of signing an international striker, namely Luuk de Jong, and have made no secret they still hope to bring in another striker before the window closes.

          Altidore in Liga MX? We certainly have seen weirder things this January.

          21.40 GMT: Manchester United are reportedly still pursuing Napoli midfielder Jorginho. The Manchester Evening News understand that United have identified the Italy international as a potential replacement for the retiring Michael Carrick.

          Italian outlet Rai Sport say the player's agent has met with the brass at Old Trafford and the two sides have discussed a move that would see Jorginho move to Old Trafford for the beginning of next season.

          Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and now maybe Jorginho, Jose Mourinho looks to be getting that money he demaned.

          21:20 GMT: PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has rubbished recent reports that Neymar is unhappy in Paris, and asked if he could join Real Madrid this summer, the CEO said: "Not on your life!"

          20:40 GMT: In-form Brentford striker Lasse Vibe missed his side's home defat to Norwich on Saturday and is in talks over a move to Chinese side Yanbian FC, West London Sport reports. It says they are "among a number of clubs to have shown an interest in Vibe."

          20:20 GMT: Reports in Italy suggest Roma are looking at Atletico Madrid's Yannick Carrasco as a potential replacement if Edin Dzeko ends up moving to Chelsea.

          20:15 GMT: Mansfield Town manager Steve Evans has told the club's official website that a young player will be joining from a Premier League club on loan, but added that his identity would only be revealed on Monday and added: "I'm forbidden by another club to say any more than that."

          19:55 GMT: The manager of Championship leaders Wolves, Nuno Espirito Santo, has this to say about the window: "It's open, like I always say, so we have to stay wise and realise that if a good chance comes, can we take it? At the same time we have to not allow anyone to go away. That's the most important part."

          19:35 GMT: Norwich boss Daniel Farke hopes he can keep key players including star midfielder James Maddison. Speaking after his side's win at Brentford, Farke said "We know there are a lot of rumours, ideas and interest in the transfer window.This has been a busy window but I am looking forward to four quiet days between now and the deadline."

          18:55 GMT: Monaco have announced the signing of Genoa striker Pietro Pellegri, who had been linked with both Juventus and Arsenal, for an undisclosed fee.

          18:45 GMT: Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has said he does not expect anyone to leave Ashton Gate as the transfer window ticks down towards its conclusion. Speaking after his side's win over QPR he said "stupid money" would be needed if City were to sell but added: "Why would anyone want to leave? We've got something really good going on."

          18:15 GMT: Sunderland could make a move for Middlesbrough goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos, according to the Northern Echo.

          17:40 GMT: U.S. international midfielder Mix Diskerud has signed for Manchester City on a free transfer, agreeing to a new four-and-a-half year contract with the Premier League club.

          Apparel maker Umbro announced the move, which Diskerud called "a great opportunity for me" in the brand's statement. A source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN FC that Diskerud's contract with MLS and NYCFC -- due to run through the end of 2018 -- has been terminated and that he was acquired by Manchester City with an eye to loaning or selling him to another club.

          17:15 GMT: Here's what Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde, asked at a news conference about the possibility that Neymar could end up at Real Madrid, had to say: "I don't know what might happen... If there's a place where strange things can happen, it's football. But it doesn't worry me. I'm thinking about what I have here."

          16:30 GMT: A move to Tottenham for PSG's Lucas Moura appears increasingly likely and could be ever closer, says the Mirror, which reports that the winger has been left out of the squad to face Montpellier.

          16:15 GMT: The Chronicle reports that Newcastle "are set to be handed a deadline of Monday night to come up with an acceptable offer for Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen.

          15:55 GMT: Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea are eyeing moves for Rochdale teenager Daniel Adshead, sources close to the League One club have told ESPN FC. Adshead has been earning rave reviews since breaking into the first-team this season at the age of 16.

          The talented midfielder became the youngest player in Rochdale's history this season when he made his debut against Bury in the Checkatrade Trophy last September and has gone on to make six further appearances in all competitions.

          15.25 GMT: Championship leaders Wolves have become "the latest club to be linked with Coventry city midfielder Ben Stevenson, according to the Birmingham Mail.

          15.00 GMT: There's confusion over Aymeric Laporte's mooted move to Manchester City, says the Independent, which reports that Athletic Bilbao coach Jose Angel Ziganda said Laporte had not told him he was moving to the Premier League leaders.

          14.45 GMT: Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has said Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will stay at the club if Arsenal do not meet their transfer demands.

          Arsenal have been heavily linked with a January move for Aubameyang, but earlier this week manager Arsene Wenger said the club were "not close" to any deal.

          13:50 GMT: Another DONE DEAL -- Yeovil Town have signed West Brom defender Shaun Donnellan on an 18-month contract.

          13:40 GMT: A DONE DEAL for teenager Stoke midfielder Jake Dunwoody, who will play for non-league Curzon Ashton for the rest of the season.

          13:25 GMT: Ashley Young wants to stay at Manchester United, the Manchester Evening News reports, adding that Young "is hopeful of negotiating new terms rather than merely having his deal extended after a fine campaign under Jose Mourinho."

          13:15 GMT: Scottish champions Celtic want to sign Chelsea forward Charly Musonda on an 18-month loan deal but face competition from clubs including Real Betis, according to reports.

          13:05 GMT: A DONE DEAL - non-league Chester have signed goalkeeper Andy Firth, 21 on loan from Liverpool for the remainder of the season. Firth has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Reds.

          12:30 GMT: What Brighton need more than anything else at the moment is goals, and the Mail reports that their former striker Leonardo Ulloa will rejoin on loan from Leicester in an effort to provide them.

          It says the Seagulls will pay a £1million fee to keep the 31-year-old for the remainder of the season and adds: "Manager Chris Hughton believes the Argentine can help his club, who currently have the second-worst scoring record in the division."

          12:00 GMT: Newcastle and Crystal Palace weighing up moves for Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye as they look to bring in a new forward before the transfer window closes, sources have told ESPN FC.

          11:30 GMT: Barcelona have confirmed that Gerard Pique will sign his new contract on Monday at 1:15 p.m. local time. The club announced last week that the 30-year-old defender had agreed a new deal that will run until 2022, with a release clause of €500m.

          11:00 GMT: Aymeric Laporte was left out of Athletic Bilbao's matchday squad to face Eibar on Friday night amid speculation of a possible move to Manchester City. The 23-year-old centre-back has been a virtual ever-present for Athletic this season but, after he was named in Jose Angel Ziganda's 20-man preliminary squad for the La Liga clash, Laporte was one of the two players who dropped out of that group on Friday and took no part in the Basque derby at San Mames.

          10:30 GMT: DONE DEAL! Liverpool have confirmed the signing of young defender Tony Gallacher from Falkirk. Gallacher, 18, has completed the move that is initially worth £200,000, sources have told ESPN FC, and is viewed as a player for the future at Liverpool. After signing a contract at the Merseyside club, Gallacher will now join up with Neil Critchley's under-23 side with a view of progression to the first team. The left-back had been at Falkirk, who play in Scotland's second tier, since the age of 10 and had made 26 first-team appearances in total.

          10:00 GMT: Having wrapped up a loan deal for Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario, West Ham boss David Moyes is now turning his attention toward strengthening his attack. Sources have told ESPN FC that Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is looking for a way out of the club, and The Sun reports that Watford captain Troy Deeney is being targeted by the Hammers if their move to bring in Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool falls through.

          09:30 GMT: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he has a tablet full of potential transfer targets, but is unlikely to dip into the market to bolster the first-team squad this month. Klopp said in the Liverpool Echo: "Our situation is always the same, we really look [for players] all year. So why should I stop now only because January 31st is nearly here? We do that all the time. Nothing has changed. The only thing is with one or two players we maybe have to make a decision 'is it for now or the summer?' That's the only difference. But look, we are constantly looking, my iPad is full of player from all over the world. That's what we do. But specific? No. It is not that we now say exactly that we need that or we cannot play football any more."

          Arsenal lodge Evans bid

          Good Evans! Arsenal have finally stumped up the cash to try to sign long-term defensive target Jonny Evans from West Brom.

          According to the Daily Star, the Gunners have offered £10m for the Northern Ireland international, along with right-back Mathieu Debuchy.

          Evans is valued at £23m by the Baggies, but it has been reported that the 30-year-old has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for just £3m if the club are relegated.

          That could tempt manager Alan Pardew into selling this month and reinvesting the funds in his squad, with Man City and Leicester also expressing an interest.

          Juventus chase Darmian

          Matteo Darmian may have found an escape route from his disappointing spell at Manchester United.

          The Italy international has struggled to hold down a regular place during his three seasons at Old Trafford and is now on the radar of Serie A champions Juventus, according to The Sun.

          Jose Mourinho would be willing to part with the 28-year-old, but United want to finalise an immediate £26m transfer while Juve would prefer a 12-month loan with the obligation to buy for £19.25m at a later date.

          Darmian played 90 minutes in United's FA Cup victory over Yeovil on Friday night, but his days in Manchester appear to be numbered.

          Tap-ins

          - Newcastle are refusing to sell striker Aleksandar Mitrovic to another Premier League team, reports the Telegraph. The 23-year-old is the subject of an £8m bid from Brighton, but Rafa Benitez is reluctant to strengthen a relegation rival.

          - Meanwhile, the Magpies will have to pay €25m if they want to sign Feyenoord's Nicolai Jorgensen, claims the Northern Echo. The Denmark international has claimed seven goals and three assists in 14 Eredivisie appearances this season.

          - Chelsea have set a Monday deadline to complete a deal for Roma striker Edin Dzeko, says the Telegraph. If Dzeko hasn't finalised a move to Stamford Bridge by then, the Blues will look elsewhere.

          - But Chelsea can forget trying to sign West Brom's Salomon Rondon this month, reports the Daily Mail. The Baggies will not entertain any bids for the striker as they look to secure their Premier League status.
