Transfer Rater: Mohamed Salah to Real, Olivier Giroud to Dortmund

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Olivier Giroud to Borussia Dortmund

Arsenal striker Giroud has found minutes hard to come by in the Premier League this season, starting just once, and the impending arrival of Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will only make things harder for the Frenchman. According to Sky Sports, Dortmund are interested in the 31-year-old who will be fearing for his place in France's World Cup squad this summer. Giroud has been warned by France coach Didier Deschamps he must be playing regularly to make the cut.

Aymeric Laporte to Manchester City

High on Pep Guardiola's wish list is another centre-back. With Vincent Kompany once again missing much of the season with injury, the Catalan is left with Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones as his only senior central defensive options. Athletic Bilbao defender Laporte is one option, according to The Sun, and the 23-year-old has a £60 million release clause in his contract. Laporte is reportedly a Manchester United target too.

Daniel Sturridge to Roma

Out of favour at Liverpool, Sturridge does not appear to be short of options this month. The forward has made just five Premier League starts this season and will need more action in the second half of the campaign if he is to make England's World Cup squad. Chelsea's pursuit of Edin Dzeko means Roma are short of a striker and according to the Daily Mirror, a loan deal for Sturridge would help ease their concerns.

Kevin Gameiro to Newcastle United

Diego Costa's January return to Atletico Madrid has forced French forward Kevin Gameiro further down the pecking order at the Wanda Metropolitano. The 30-year-old has made just seven starts in La Liga this season, scoring four times, and looks set to leave this month. According to the Daily Express, Newcastle United could turn to Gameiro as Rafael Benitez attempts to sharpen up his attack. The Premier League club desperately need a new striker as summer signing Joselu has disappointed.

Mohamed Salah to Real Madrid

He only joined Liverpool in the summer but Salah has become one of the Premier League's hottest properties after scoring 18 league goals in just 21 starts and is now subject of Real Madrid interest. The Daily Mirror report that Hany Abo Rida, the president of the Egyptian Football Federation, has confirmed interest from Real. "There is a real chance he could play for Real Madrid next year. The Spaniards will make an offer for him," he said.
