Gareth Bale in line for Spurs return; Courtois hints at Chelsea exit

With the January window on the horizon, there's plenty brewing in the transfer market. All the latest deals and potential deals can be found here.

Bale in line for Spurs return?

Gareth Bale could be set for a shock return to Tottenham after falling down the pecking order at Real Madrid, reports The Sun.

The 28-year-old left White Hart Lane for a then world record £86 million fee in 2013, and has since helped Madrid claim three Champions League crowns plus last season's La Liga title.

But injury problems have pushed Bale to the fringes of Zinedine Zidane's squad this season, with talk that he could be set to move on after mustering three goals in 10 appearances so far.

Manchester United have long been linked with the Welshman, but Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that Spurs would also be interested, saying "you never know what's going to happen in football."

Meanwhile, The Sun also claims that Tottenham are on the trail of PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn. The 20-year-old is a target for West Ham, Bournemouth and Torino, who bid £9m for his services in the summer.

Courtois drops Chelsea exit hint

Thibaut Courtois has dropped the biggest hint yet that he could leave Chelsea when his contract expires in 2019, according to the London Evening Standard.

The Belgian shot-stopper has two children from a previous relationship in Madrid and is reportedly eager to move back to Spain to see them more regularly.

Chelsea are desperate for Courtois to commit his future to the club, but Real Madrid have emerged as contenders for his signature.

The 25-year-old could also be in line for a return to Atletico, who face losing current No. 1 Jan Oblak to big-spending Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea want Bailey

Chelsea are plotting a bid for Bayer Leverkusen speed demon Leon Bailey, reports the Daily Mail.

The 20-year-old Jamaican star is one of the fastest players in Europe and has caught the eye of Barcelona with his blistering displays on the wing in Germany.

It's thought Leverkusen would demand at least £20m for Bailey, who has been scouted on three occasions by Chelsea this season.

Should the winger sign for the Blues in January, he could return to the Bundesliga on loan for the rest of the campaign.
