TOP STORY: City determined to keep De Bruyne
Kevin De Bruyne has been one of the stars of the show as Manchester City have started the season at an intimidating pace -- and City are absolutely determined to make sure he is not tempted away, according to the Telegraph.
It reports that talks over a new Etihad Stadium deal for the Belgium international will begin in the next few weeks and could see him "almost double his existing £6 million-a-year wages."
De Bruyne, who joined City from Wolfsburg in 2015, has four years left on his contract, but a series of virtuoso performances have led them to take steps to ensure he is not targeted when the winter window opens.
The Telegraph says City "want to reward the Belgian with a new deal that is more reflective of his standing as one of Europe's most complete midfielders" and make sure he "remains out of the clutches of any potential suitors."
It adds that De Bruyne "is expected to commit to a contract that will catapult his salary beyond the £200,000-a-week mark" and there is "a willingness on all sides to make a deal happen quickly."
Leicester poised to wrap up new Gray deal
Talking of players signing new deals, the Mirror says Leicester "expect to tie down Demarai Gray on an improved long-term contract this week."
Former Birmingham winger Gray was the subject of interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth during the summer, only for Leicester to say they had not received an offer that matched their valuation.
Reports this week suggested that, in order to stave off further interest when the window reopens, the Foxes would bump up the England Under-21 international's deal, and a breakthrough is expected soon.
The Mirror reports that more talks "are scheduled for this week to secure Gray" but adds that although manager Craig Shakespeare has said he has a big role to play in the club's future, he "has still not broken into the Premier League lineup despite Riyad Mahrez asking to leave in May."

- After a summer of heavy spending, things have not gone according to plan for Everton this season, and the Liverpool Echo reports that manager Ronald Koeman "will leave the January-window planning to director of football Steve Walsh as he focuses on stopping the rot."
Everton suffered a fourth straight defeat, as they were beat 4-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. Koeman, whose side have conceded 12 goals in that spell, said Walsh would be looking ahead while he focused on turning their form around.

It reports that the France Under-21 international, a reported target for Chelsea during the summer, is being linked with a loan move to either Newcastle United or struggling Crystal Palace.
