          Barcelona feel deal for Liverpool's Coutinho could happen this week

          TOP STORY: Coutinho wants Barca move

          Barcelona, awash with cash following the world-record sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain, have been linked with Philippe Coutinho for weeks -- and Sky Sports says the Brazilian wants to join them.

          However, Liverpool are adamant that Coutinho, who signed a new five-year deal in January, is not for sale.

          While the Brazil international would like to make the move, the report says he will only do so if a deal can be agreed amicably with Liverpool.

          Meanwhile, Barca believe they have his signature "in the bag," according to the Sun.

          It reports that the Liga giants "are confident of landing the playmaker in a £90 million deal this week" and believe they can do so despite Liverpool having already rejected a bid of over £70m.

In addition, the two clubs are also negotiating a loan for midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, although Inter would prefer a loan with an obligation to buy, which could be a sticking point.

          20.54 BST: Burnley are weighing up a move for Colombia international striker Duvan Zapata, reports the Daily Mail, after the 26-year-old spent the past two seasons on loan at Udinese.

          20.38 BST: CalcioMercato reports that Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij, who has just one year remaining on his deal and is at an impasse with the Roman club over a new contract, has been offered to Juventus by his agent.

          20.22 BST: DONE DEAL Stoke City have confirmed the signing of Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting on a free transfer from Schalke, and have signed the Cameroon international forward to a three-year deal.

          20.06 BST: Coloumbus Crew SC owner Anthony Precourt has tweeted that his club is on the verge of adding a third designated player to its roster.

          19.19 BST: Antonio Conte has been assured his Chelsea will add another three signings before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, according to the Telegraph. The Blues are set to do battle with Manchester United over PSG's £27m-rated right-back Serge Aurier, provided he overcomes his visa issues, and will make a firm enquiry with Southampton after Virgil van Dijk submitted a transfer request earlier in the day.

          19.03 BST: Stoke City have agreed £7.25m fee for Porto centre-back Bruno Martins Indi, who spent last season on loan at the Potteries, writes the Mail.

          18.46 BST: Swansea are interested in Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson, reports the Mirror, and the Gunners are willing to listen to offers as they seek to trim their wage bill.

          17.57 BST: Multiple outlets cite L'Equipe as reporting that Paris Saint-Germain haven't given up on signing Monacao starlet Kylian Mbappe, and could bring their summer spending to nearly €400m to get the 18-year-old France international, after already giving up €222m in their signing of Neymar.

          17.41 BST: Juventus have made contact with Real Madrid over the signing of midfielder Mateo Kovacic, which has led to an intriguing counteroffer from Los Blancos: Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Florentino Perez has proposed Madrid send Kovacic and €85m to Juve in exchange for Paulo Dybala.

          17.00 BST: West Ham United are set to sign Halmstad's Montenegro international midfielder Sead Haksabanovic, sources have told ESPN FC, with the player travelling to London to hold talks.

          16.50 BST: DONE DEAL Brentford defender Tom Field has joined Bradford City on loan and will stay with the League One club until January.

          16.45 BST: Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said he would still be interested in signing Real Madrid's Gareth Bale, telling a news conference that although he has "not even thought" about the possibility but adding: "If he is not in the club's plans, that with the arrival of another player would mean he was on his way out, I will try to be waiting for him on the other side and fight with other coaches that would want him on their team."

          16.30 BST: Simon Grayson has warned Lamine Kone and Wahbi Khazri to "do the right things" if they are to earn moves away from Sunderland.

          Kone and Khazri have been tipped to follow Jeremain Lens out of the club as new manager Grayson rebuilds his squad for a Championship promotion campaign at the same time as attempting to cut costs.

          16.15 BST: Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies has said there is "constant dialogue" about the possibility of Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts returning to the club.

          Roberts, 20, spent 18 months on loan at the Scottish Premiership club before returning to City at the end of last season.

          16.10 BST: Trabzonspor vice-president Gencaga Meric has confirmed that his club want to sign Moussa Sissoko from Spurs on loan, but the London Evening Standard quotes him as saying: "We have yet to convince Tottenham or their manager. Tottenham want to recoup most of what they invested in Sissoko, but we want him on loan."

          16.00 BST: DONE DEAL Another done deal involving a Championship club, but this one has a player leaving rather than arriving: Leeds defender Tyler Denton is off to League Two Port Vale for the season.

          15.55 BST: Charlton Athletic could be ready to splash some cash as they look to return to the Championship this season, and the London Evening Standard reports that they may bid for £1.5m-rated Stevenage forward Matt Godden.

          15.40 BST: Brighton boss Chris Hughton is pretty happy with the arrival of Propper, telling the Sussex club's official website: "He's a strong competitor as a central midfielder and will complement our existing midfield players, and he is also a really good age at 25. We are absolutely delighted to welcome him to the club.''

          15.20 BST: DONE DEAL And hot on the heels of that done deal, here's another one -- French club Nice have signed former Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder, a free agent, on a free transfer.

          15.10 BST: DONE DEAL Brighton and Hove Albion have wrapped up the signing of Eindhoven midfielder Davy Propper, with the Dutch midfielder telling the club's official website: "It's the biggest competition in the world, so this will be a great challenge and I think I'm ready for it."

          15.05 BST: Despite spending close to £200 million already this summer, Pep Guardiola is set to splash out again after admitting Manchester City "need someone else" before the transfer window closes. ESPN FC's City correspondent Jonathan Smith has more.

          15.00 BST: Sky Sports reports that Leicester will complete the signing of Coventry City forward George Thomas in a deal totalling around £500,000, with the move set to go through in the next 24 hours.

          14.50 BST: Birmingham City midfielder Corey O'Keeffe could join Yeovil Town on loan, with manager Harry Redknapp keen for him to gain first-team experience. Given that Yeovil's first League Two game of the season ended in an 8-2 defeat at Luton, it could be quite an intense brand of experience.

          14.29 BST: An update on Philippe Coutinho for you now, with Sky Sports claiming that the Liverpool midfielder would like a transfer to Barcelona...

          14.16 BST: Ligue 1 champions Monaco are weighing up a move for Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi, according to ESPN FC's Jonathan Johnson...

          14.05 BST: More on Davy Propper's move from PSV Eindhoven to Brighton -- Sky Sports reports that the clubs have agreed a £6m fee and the deal could be done soon.

          13.55 BST: Guillaume Gillet, the Nantes captain last season, has told reporters he wants to go to Olympiakos and hopes "the situation is sorted out soon."

          13.50 BST: The Bristol Post reports that Bristol City could be closing in on a move for IFK Norrkoping midfielder Niclas Eliasson, saying the player's agent has confirmed that he is heading to the UK.

          13.40 BST: Werder Bremen are set to sell Aron Johannsson in the summer, with the United States attacker having struggled for recent playing time.

          Johannsson, 26, joined Bremen from AZ Alkmaar in 2015 but his first season was marred by a hip injury and when he returned to action last season he found it hard to break through under new coach Alexander Nouri.

          13.31 BST: Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu was not too pleased with Neymar's behaviour while pushing for a move to Paris Saint-Germain... "Neymar's way of doing things was not the best," he said. "It wasn't befitting a Barcelona player." Full story.

          13.11 BST: Olivier Giroud has said he is happy at Arsenal and wants to see out his contract with the club. "I feel good. I'm an Arsenal player, I have two years on my contract at least," he said. "I am really focused on the team, on what I have to do when the manager calls on me." Full story.

          13.01 BST: Some of Barcelona's Neymar cash could be going towards signing Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, with L'Equipe claiming that the Catalan club are considering whether or not to meet the €40 million release clause in his contract.

          12.50 BST: Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla has told Montreal Impact he wants to leave after they rejected several offers for his services, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC. A number of European clubs including Chelsea are tracking Tabla after the winger's impressive showings for Montreal in the MLS this season. Full story.

          11.52 BST: Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said that a deal to bring Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson to Goodison Park is nearly done. "We are close, we have to wait. But still, the deal is not done," he said. Full story.

          11.20 BST: Borussia Dortmund have said they do not know of any agreement between Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona over a move to the Camp Nou. Dembele has reportedly agreed personal terms with Barca, but BVB sporting director Michael Zorc said: "I am not aware of an agreement." Full story.

          11.00 BST: Stoke are set to sign Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting on a three-year deal, according to Sky Sports. Choupo-Moting is a free agent after leaving Schalke earlier in the summer.

          10.08 BST: Timothy Fosu-Mensah is set to undergo a medical with Crystal Palace today ahead of a loan move, according to The Sun, with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho happy for the youngster to go elsewhere for regular first-team experience.

Well apparently not as reports in Spain claim his former club Santos are demanding Barcelona pay them €13.4 million as part of his switch to PSG -- five percent of the forward's €222m release clause and €4.5m for a friendly between the two clubs which never took place.

          09.18 BST: Liverpool are mulling over whether or not to make a move for Rennes captain Benjamin Andre, Le Telegramme reports. The 27-year-old midfielder won back possession more than any other player in Ligue 1 last season.

          09.00 BST: Free agent Wesley Sneijder is poised to sign for Nice after the Ligue 1 club announced that he has agreed "in principle" to join them. Full story.

          08.46 BST: Jurgen Klopp has said he is happy with Liverpool's current defensive options and will not "force" it if they cannot land their priority targets. "We would never get a centre-back 'just because...'" Klopp added. Full story.

          08.33 BST: Today's front page of Mundo Deportivo states that Barcelona are hoping to wrap up deals for Philippe Coutinho and Real Sociedad's Inigo Martinez this week, while adding that Liverpool are interested in signing Barca's Andre Gomes.

          08.19 BST: Barcelona could be set to lose another player due to a release clause being triggered... The Sun reports that Manchester United are set to pay Sergi Roberto's £36 million clause, though they face competition from Chelsea and Monaco for the Spaniard.

          08.06 BST: So Philippe Coutinho could be on his way to Barcelona -- and so could Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler. Bild is reporting that Barca could use some of the Neymar funds to bring in the Germany international, with his agent having been spotted in the Catalan city.

          06.38 BST: Good morning transfer fans! We start today's blog with a bang, with news that Barcelona have lodged an official bid for Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

          That comes hot on the heels of BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke's comments on Saturday, where he said that no amount of money would persuade the Bundesliga side to do business -- not even a mooted €100m transfer: "In every case, [the transfer fee is] not enough!"

          Sanchez set to see out Arsenal contract

          After a summer during which one of the most recurrent sagas has been that of whether or not Alexis Sanchez leaves Arsenal, the Mirror reports that a conclusion has finally been reached -- and Sanchez will be staying.

          It says the Chile international "is ready to accept Arsenal's hardline stance and see out the final year of his contract."

          The news comes after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had stressed that Sanchez was not going to be leaving, with the club running the risk that he could go on a free transfer when his contract expires next year.

          The attacker has been strongly linked with both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, but the Mirror says he is "dropping hints to teammates and friends that he is resigned to staying and leaving as a free agent -- when he is likely to get an even more lucrative contract."

          PSG's eyebrow-raising move for Neymar, the report says, "appears to have ended the French club's realistic chance of getting Sanchez."

          Meanwhile, the Telegraph says we should expect more departures as Community Shield winners Arsenal trim their squad.

          Striker Olivier Giroud continues to interest big-spending Everton, with England midfielder Jack Wilshere, on loan at Bournemouth last season, another who could leave North London before the start of the Premier League campaign.

          Tap-ins

          -- It's only right and, ahem, Propper that Brighton continue to strengthen ahead of their return to the top tier of English football, and the Mail reports that they will soon do just that with a move for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Davy Propper.

          Chris Hughton's Seagulls are poised to make a £3.5 million move for Propper, and the Mail says talks "are at advanced stage, with the club confident of sealing the Netherlands international's capture before the start of the season."

          -- Premier League duo Everton and Crystal Palace are interested in Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, the Chronicle reports.

          It adds that Woodman, also reported to be a target for both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, is "attracting some serious interest," with the England Under-20 international having only signed a four-year contract at St James' Park last summer.
