According to the Daily Mirror, Barca are determined to secure a deal for Coutinho and will therefore return to Liverpool with an improved bid of £80 million.

With Jurgen Klopp having already said his star man is not for sale and Barca potentially under great pressure to seek a big-money replacement for Neymar, this one could run and run.

PSG want Martial as part of Verratti deal

Manchester United might have to part with Anthony Martial if they want to land Marco Verratti this summer, the Daily Mirror claims.

United are chasing a £60 million deal for the midfielder after struggling to sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea and have stepped up their interest, with Barcelona seemingly stalling in theirs.

Paris Saint-Germain would like Martial included as part of any deal -- a sticking point that United are not pleased with. Jose Mourinho's side do not want to let the France international go but remain in discussions with PSG in the hope that they can come to some sort of an agreement.

Mahrez holding out for £35 million move to Arsenal

Leicester's want-away star, Riyad Mahrez, has his heart set on a move to Arsenal, The Sun says, and he is prepared to wait to get what he wants.

Mahrez has been linked with a Leicester exit this summer, after he told them that he wants to quit for a new challenge, with Arsenal as well as Roma having been touted as potential destinations for the Algeria international.

Roma have already seen one bid knocked back by the Foxes for Mahrez, but they are expected to return with a new offer, though The Sun claims that the 26-year-old will reject any attempts to take him to Italy.

That is because Mahrez is holding out for a move to Arsenal and is happy to wait until late in the window in hopes that Arsene Wenger will turn to him in a £35 million deal, should he fail in his pursuit of Monaco's Thomas Lemar or lose Alexis Sanchez.

Tap-ins:

-- Chelsea are interested in acquiring Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and are keeping tabs on his contract situation at Arsenal, according to the Evening Standard.

With Oxlade-Chamberlain's current contract due to expire next summer and no extension with Arsenal yet agreed, Chelsea could look to pounce with an offer, though the Gunners would not want to sell to a London rival.

-- Everton are finally closing in on the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea, the Sunday Express reports.

The Toffees previously saw an initial bid of £40 million for the Iceland international rejected, with Swansea holding out for £50 million for their main man. Latest reports indicate that the two clubs have now agreed on a compromise of £40 million, plus another £5 million in add-ons.

-- Ashley Young is set to spurn interest from Stoke to remain at Manchester United, the Daily Mirror says.

Despite the former Aston Villa man entering the final year of his United deal, he would prefer to see out his contract and remain at Old Trafford, where Jose Mourinho is happy to keep him.
