Transfer Rater: Alexandre Lacazette to Man United, Riyad Mahrez to Arsenal

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Benjamin Mendy to Man City

The fight for Mendy continues to rumble on. Liverpool were very keen and hoped their top-four finish would lure him to Anfield, but Manchester City's capture of his Monaco teammate Bernardo Silva, and the pull of coach Pep Guardiola, gives them the edge. It will cost them around £39 million to land the left-back, but it's a vital position in Guardiola's system.

Lucas Perez to Everton

Signed from Deportivo La Coruna last summer, with one Premier League goal in just 11 appearances, Lucas failed to make an impact with Arsenal this season. Not always his fault, but Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud were always going to be ahead of him in the pecking order meaning minutes would be limited. He's not happy, and Arsenal are prepared to sell, meaning there is a deal to be done. Everton are faced with the prospect of losing Romelu Lukaku this window, and Lucas could be a target.

Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea

Another of Monaco's title-winning side who is set to be lured away for big money. Bakayoko is an impressive defensive midfielder, someone who would add strength, size and power to the Chelsea midfield. He is a known transfer target for Manchester United too, but the Blues have rekindled their interest and look favourites to land the 22-year-old France international

Riyad Mahrez to Arsenal

It was no surprise when Riyad Mahrez handed in a transfer request to leave Leicester City this summer. Despite a disappointing league campaign, the Algeria international was able to experience the Champions League. A known target for Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal are still favourites to land the former Le Havre youth, with the 26-year-old reportedly asking the Foxes to lower their asking price so he can seal a move to the Emirates. He might not get Champions League football next season, but there would be a greater chance in the future.

Alexandre Lacazette to Manchester United

Lyon striker Lacazette looked all set to make his move to Atletico Madrid, but the decision to uphold the Spanish side's transfer ban has seemingly put an end to that. The 25-year-old is unlikely to wait until January, opening the door for Manchester United and long-term admirers Arsenal. Champions League football at Old Trafford gives them the edge and after reports suggest their interest in Antoine Griezmann has cooled, Lacazette is apparently next on the shortlist.
