Inter plan to fund James bid by selling Perisic to Man United for €55m

The football world's gossip mill is in full swing, and Transfer Talk is monitoring the whispers ahead of all the summer moves. Check out the latest deals and potential deals here.

Mourinho steps in to bring Perisic to United

Jose Mourinho has personally intervened in order to ensure Manchester United beat Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Ivan Perisic, but Inter Milan are holding out for €55 million, according to CalcioMercato.

The Italian outlet claims the 28-year-old Croatia international winger has already agreed personal terms with United and will earn €7m a year at Old Trafford. However, the Premier League side's offer to Inter stands at €40m, so the clubs are some way off meeting in the middle.

But with the player already having agreed a move and Inter keen to begin their summer spending, it won't be long before they agree on a price for a player who scored 10 goals and assisted another six in Serie A last season.

Inter eye James as summer statement signing

Inter may already be looking to spend the money they earn from Perisic's sale. According to AS, they have made a €42m opening offer for James Rodriguez, though that is well below the price at which Real Madrid value a player they signed for €80m in 2014.

It is claimed Inter want to make James their marquee signing this summer, and will also move for Madrid teammate Pepe, who could be available on a free transfer.

The Nerazzurri could face competition from Man United in trying to sign the Colombia international, and unlike the Premier League side, they are unable to offer Champions League football. But they hope that by trying to sign him early they could be at an advantage.

Stoke sponsors to bankroll Rooney deal

Stoke are surprise contenders to sign Wayne Rooney from Man United and hope to fund a £45m package using money from sponsor bet365, reports the Mirror.

So far Rooney has been linked with moves abroad to Major League Soccer or the Chinese Super League, and said following United's Europa League final win on Wednesday that he would not play for another Premier League side besides United and Everton.

It is reported that Stoke's sponsors could cover the costs of a deal for Rooney, who currently has one year left on a United contract that earns him £300,000 a week.
