La Liga champions Barcelona reveal new kit in extravagant style

Barcelona revealed their new shirt for next season by airdropping it in above the Olympic pool in the city on Saturday as a team of synchronised swimmers performed below.

First team playmaker Philippe Coutinho and Leila Ouahabi from the women's team were among the 10 players and season ticket holders to show off the new strip in more detail, each one of them representing a different one of Barcelona's 10 districts.

The shirt design is similar to previous seasons, with the traditional Blaugrana stripes flanked by blue sleeves.

However, in contrast to recent campaigns, the Catalan club have returned to navy shorts and navy socks to finish their kit for next season.

Barca couldn't have picked a more stunning location in the city for the unveiling, with the outdoor pool -- which was originally built in 1929 but came to prominence during the 1992 summer Olympics -- boasting spectacular views over the city.

It's regularly used to film adverts and also provided the backdrop to a Kylie Minogue music video.

The event, attended by club president Josep Maria Bartomeu and city mayor Ada Colau, began with a display from football freestyler Sergi Martínez, who ended his routine by kicking the ball into the water.

It was then collected by a team of synchronised swimmers before diver Adria Garcia jumped into the pool, with a giant Barca shirt appearing via a drone as he dropped into the water.

Barca played on the No. 10 during the event -- the number also worn by Lionel Messi -- explaining that the shirt features 10 vertical stripes in representation of the city's 10 districts.

The shirt will get its first airing on Sunday, when Barcelona host Real Sociedad at Camp Nou in their final league game of the season, Andres Iniesta's last match with the club.
