Alaves' Alvaro Medran cries during interview because of lack of chances

Alvaro Medran showed his frustration over his lack of playing time at Alaves by crying during a postgame interview.

Medran, 24, on loan from Valencia, made his 17th league appearance for Alaves on Sunday at Las Palmas when he came on in the 74th minute. He scored his team's third goal five minutes later in a 4-0 triumph.

After his flying header hit the net, Medran put both hands to his face and looked to the sky.

"It's been very tough for me since December," Medran told Gol TV while crying. "I've worked a lot. I believe I've been unfairly treated."

Medran joined Alaves on a season-long loan in the summer in search of first-team chances.

A youth product of Real Madrid, Medran was a regular under former Alaves coaches Luis Zubeldia and Gianni De Biasi but has only started twice for Abelardo, who took over in December.

Medran joined Valencia from Madrid in summer 2016 and started 10 league games last season but has made just nine league starts for Alaves.

He is under contract with Valencia until June 2020.
