Roma have responded to one of their fans' pleas by writing a letter to be presented to his employer, excusing him from work for the day of Roma-Barcelona in the Champions League.
A French fan tweeted to the Serie A club, requesting to "do me a favour and speak with my boss -- he won't let me come to the game against Barca," to which Roma replied that they would "write you a note of absence -- football is far too important."
True to their word, the Giallorossi sent the fan a letter on headed paper to pass on to his employers so that he can be excused for work on April 10, though the tweet has since been deleted.
On te fait un mot d'absence. Le football est bien trop important.

"Dear Sir/Madam, Please excuse the absence of (insert name here) on Wednesday 10 April. He cannot make it to work this day because our much-loved club face Barcelona in the return leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.
"As the great man Bill Shankly once said: 'some people believe football is a matter of life and death -- I can assure you it is much, much more important than that,' you will easily understand that it is not possible for (insert name here) to miss the fervour of the Stadio Olimpico for any reason for such a match.
"I would be grateful if you could take note and show understanding for this."
