'Wenger Out' reaches Winter Olympics, as Swiss speedskater is eliminated

It didn't take long for the "Wenger Out" campaign to make it to the Winter Olympics. Or at least, that's the conclusion Arsenal fans have drawn after Swiss speedskater Livio Wenger failed to advance in the men's 1,500-metre race in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The image of the disappointed athlete with a TV graphic featuring his name and the result "OUT" has spread quickly over social media, with football fans making the obvious connection to the Arsenal manager.

The so-called "Wenger Out" brigade has been a bit quieter this season as compared to last season, when the yearlong uncertainty surrounding the Frenchman's future led to protest marches outside the Emirates before some home games -- and signs reading "Wenger Out" being held up at sports events around the world.

But Wenger is under increased pressure following a loss to Tottenham in the North London derby on Saturday, which left the Gunners eight points outside the Premier League's top four.

Arsenal travel to Sweden on Wednesday to play Ostersunds in the Europa League on Thursday, where the team can expect another frosty reception -- at least in weather terms. Sub-zero temperatures are expected for the game, and Ostersunds posted photos on social media joking that their dressing rooms are in an igloo.
