Kylo Ren, Darth Vader in attendance as A-League stages 'Star Wars round'

There were bizarre scenes in the A-League this weekend after Football Federation Australia decided to turn gameweek 10 into its "Star Wars round."

After signing a commercial deal with Disney, the A-League used its fixtures to promote the latest movie in the Star Wars canon -- "The Last Jedi," which is due for release this month.

The big derby between Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC was preceded by an appearance from an imposing chap clad head-to-toe in black (and no we're not talking about the referee).

Elsewhere, there was a similar story ahead of Newcastle Jets' trip to Perth Glory.

As well as Kylo Ren and Darth Vader being in attendance, all the A-League games were played with an official match ball designed to look like BB-8, the spherical droid from "The Force Awakens."

Like we said, bizarre.
