Peru to declare national holiday if they beat New Zealand, reach World Cup

All of Peru will be urging on their football team in Wednesday's World Cup qualifying intercontinental playoff against New Zealand. After the first leg finished scoreless in Wellington, Wednesday's second leg will determine who will go to Russia next summer.

But there's far more than just a World Cup place at stake. If Peru qualifies for the World Cup, the nation will declare Thursday a national holiday.

Having not qualified for the tournament since 1982, the ministry of work declared that "it would be necessary to adopt measures that facilitate the natural celebration of this qualification, within the framework of a proper order and citizen security."

If Peru didn't have the support of all their citizens before, they will now.
