U2 to delay concert for Argentina's massive World Cup qualifier

Not even Bono can compete with Lionel Messi's star power.

Bono and U2 have agreed to delay their concert in Buenos Aires on Tuesday night until after Argentina's critical World Cup qualifier.

Instead of opening directly in front of U2, Noel Gallagher will play at the La Plata stadium before the big screens all switch to the game against Ecuador, where Messi and his teammates face a must-win scenario with their World Cup spot on the line.

U2 will take the stage after the game -- which could be a risky proposition.

"Can you imagine what the show's going to be like if Argentina wins?" producer Daniel Grinbank said. "And if we lose, at least we can get rid of the bitterness with a great show. You can't go wrong."

Good luck with that. Argentina could lose and still make the intercontinental playoff spot, but it is more likely that even a draw would eliminate them entirely from playing in Russia.

If that happens, U2 will have their work cut out for them in trying to provide any sort of entertainment in Buenos Aires.
