Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill becomes a Wolves supporter

Wolverhampton Wanderers picked up a new celebrity fan over the weekend in the somewhat unlikely form of actor Mark Hamill.

While freely admitting that he'd never previously heard of the Championship team, a minor Twitter mix-up saw Hamill pledge his allegiance to the Old Gold cause.

Indeed, it all started when the 65-year-old, who you may recognise as playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, liked a tweet sent to him by a Wolves fan assuming it was in reference to the animal.

Hamill soon realised his error but, thanks to the frenzy of excitement his liked tweet generated, the Jedi decided to go all-in and declare himself a Wolves ultra.

The club soon cottoned on and extended a welcoming hand across the galaxy.

Hamill then replied:

Wolves went on to beat Millwall 1-0 at Molineux on Saturday afternoon thanks to a superb long-range strike from debutant Diogo Jota.

Looks like The Force is already beginning to have an influence.
