Pogba, Mbappe and France flops slammed after Luxembourg draw

One of the stand-out results of the international weekend saw little Luxembourg battle their way to an historic 0-0 draw with a France team that boasted the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe.

Despite racking up nearly 80 percent possession and letting fly with 34 efforts on goal, Didier Deschamps' well-stocked side were left ultimately frustrated as they failed to beat Luxembourg for the first time in over 100 years.

Unsurprisingly, the French press were rather unforgiving after the World Cup qualifier having watched Les Bleus struggle to break down opponents who are sandwiched between Vietnam and Namibia in the FIFA world rankings.

L'Equipe were particularly scathing in their review, reserving the lowest marks for defensive duo Laurent Koscielny and Layvin Kurzawa.

In stark contrast, the postmatch mood was very different in the Luxembourg camp, with players and staff filmed celebrating the famous draw together with a group of travelling fans.

"It's a day of glory for Luxembourg football," coach Luc Holtz beamed after securing a truly famous point for his team of perennial underdogs.

The point keeps France at the top of Group A, one point above Sweden in second place while also lifting Luxembourg one place, above Belarus at the foot of the table.
