Lou Macari was a nervous man in the closing stages of Manchester United's 4-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.
The former United midfielder, who was working for in-house television channel MUTV at Old Trafford, was the last United player to score a hat-trick on the opening day of the season -- a 4-1 win at Birmingham in August 1977. And the Scot admitted to being a little nervous Romelu Lukaku would match his feat after the Belgian got two against West Ham on his Premier League debut for United.

It would have been three if West Ham defender Pablo Zabaleta not blocked an effort in the second half. Chatting after the game, Lukaku said: "I almost got you, didn't I? Zabaleta saved you!"
"I was pleased," said Macari. "I kept saying to the manager 'bring him off!'"
