Liverpool ace Georginio Wijnaldum makes one Reds fan's day at Anfield

It would appear that Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum had a rather eventful day on Sunday.

Not only did he score a goal that helped his team to a top four finish, but the Dutch international also surprised a young Reds fan after the 3-0 win over Middlesbrough with a heartwarming random act of kindness.

After making the trip across from Limerick, Ireland, Louise Mackessy treated her Liverpool-mad son Patrick to shopping trip to the Adidas store in Liverpool city centre.

It was here that she bumped into Wijnaldum, who shocked Patrick by treating the 11-year-old to a complimentary pair of £300 football boots.

Mum Louise revealed that she and Patrick actually left the shop before being called back in a member of staff, only to realise that Wijnaldum had already purchased the boots.

"We had left the store and Paddy was telling me this, and we were walking down the street," Louis told the Daily Mirror.

"Then we looked behind and the lady from the store had been running after us and she said: 'Can you come back to the store, he wants to buy Paddy the boots'.

"He had bought them at that stage - he's such a nice guy, so approachable and very friendly. I went over and shook his hand and said 'you're so nice' and he was like 'no problem, no problem'."

The pair then took a picture together as a memento, with Patrick adding that his friends were liable to be "jealous" when he saw them again at school.

We don't doubt that for a second!
